Window "Tinting"

Window "Tinting"
I have a local shop that does ceramic tinting, reduces like 80% of the heat from the sun. Im going to get this done to my third gen. When I was talking to the guy he mentioned that they have a clear ceramic coating that has the same benifit and that the local police and border patrol use it on their windshields because of the computers and what not. Naturally, I want to get it on mine too lol.
I figured Id get a fight when I call the police dep. to see if I can get it so I started looking up AZ law. I read it (28-959.01) and found that it says that:
1. "a person shall not operate a motor vehicle with an object or material placed, installed, affixed," yada yada "in a manner that obstructs or reduces a drivers clear view through the windshield or side or rear windows."
I figure its clear right (well for the most part, it is a little darker than glass) to the point where it will not obstruct any vision.
2. (this is the part that I think will f*ck me) "a person shall not place install," yada, yada, "a transparent material on the windshield" and other windows "if the material alters the color or reduces the light transmittance of the windshield".
I figure this is where they are going to say that it will reduce my vision because its darker than transparent and during the night it could cause a hazard and what not.
The way I look at it whats good for the goose (police) is good for the gander (me). So what I want to know is if anyone has fought this battle with the police or is currently using the clear coating (legally or not). If you fought it and won what points did you use to fight it?
Im interested in everyones responses but Im especially interested in anyone from AZ that has, is or thinking of getting this done.

As to your specific type of tint may be overkill, also some tint used to hamper radio performance of cell phones etc... but that was typically with some aluminum content. But worth researching as you don't want to inhibit cell phone reception any more than it already is.

Yeah I get the clear part but if i do get pulled over I would like to know if I can get my *** hammered for it. I live next to a military base so most of the cops can be real ********. The guy that does the tint says that its pretty noticable but I figure that hes around it all the time so he would notice it.

I recently saw this article online and it seriously got me interested in tinting my windows now that the hot seasons are approaching.

Thats a pretty nice price for that. I decided to get it done however the shop is on an Army base and the Post Marshall found out they were doing it and put an end to it. The good news is that they are opening a shop outside of post and it should be open next month and they "might" be able to do it again *wink wink* lol. Next monday Ill be going in for the sides so Ill do some before and after pics.

Not to go off subject here, but does ceramic tint offer any real benefit over metallic tint for FD's. Will metallic tint interfere with our electronics on our cars as it does in other cars? I debating on which route to go and if the extra money for ceramic worth it.

Im not sure about our cars being any different from other cars except for the placement of the antenna. Some cars that have it up front like on the pillar next to the windshield have had issues with it.
Ive heard from people that if you get metallic all around the car that it can interfere with the radar detector to the point where it wont pick up the cop or sensor until your right on it. Not willing to have that issue personally lol. Also it makes the window shiny on the outside so if you get it on the windshield it will probably be a little more noticeable.
