Where can I get a compression check in the San Diego area?
Can someone recommend a shop in the San Diego area that can do a compression check on my FD other than the dealer?
Thanks,
John

No No No John....say it aint so. Hope it turns out ok.
Try Speed Machine Performance www.speedmachineperformance.com They run the Falken D1 FD so they should know what they're doing. I haven't been to them yet but I've read good things about them. With Puresports gone, they're the alternative from what I've heard.
They're in Vista.
Thanks,
Money (Black FD with idle problem)
PS: We missed you at Fuddruckers last Saturday

I forgot about speed machine. I made an appointment with them in a couple of weeks (they're really busy right now).
The motor has about 2500 miles on it now and three track weekends. It runs great at the track. It just has a hell of a time starting when hot. I've heard that this can often be due to low compression. So I'll get a compression check to find out. Hopefully it's something other than the motor!

No, I had the engine rebuilt at a reputable shop. It has about 2500 miles on it now and started to idle and start poorly as soon I broke in the engine around 750 miles. The engine runs fine once it gets going it's just idles like crap and starts poorly when hot. I didn't change my setup from what I used on my last engine that I got 70K out of before a water seal finally went bad.
Most likely it is a problem with the seal springs so the rotor has no compression until the centrifical forces of the engine spinning push the seals against the housing.
Fortunately my engine builder said he'd warranty it.
