Don't need a diff brace. Get a pinion snubber. I'm telling you. $7 and you won't think twice. I've got no wheel hop. Ever.

That's some pretty bad times bro. What were your 60ft times? Your trap speed should be a lot faster than 87mph. Something isn't right with your FD.

My first runs on the 1/4 mile with my old FD were in the very low 14's at 101-103mph.

BTW...good reaction times.

Never argue with Glen, because he can always back his statements up.

Joey Naylor: ...so what happens when you're wrong?
Nick Naylor: Whoa, Joey I'm never wrong.
Joey Naylor: But you can't always be right...
Nick Naylor: Well, if it's your job to be right, then you're never wrong.
Joey Naylor: But what if you are wrong?
Nick Naylor: OK, let's say that you're defending chocolate, and I'm defending vanilla. Now if I were to say to you: 'Vanilla is the best flavour ice-cream', you'd say...
Joey Naylor: No, chocolate is.
Nick Naylor: Exactly, but you can't win that argument... so, I'll ask you: so you think chocolate is the end all and the all of ice-cream, do you?
Joey Naylor: It's the best ice-cream, I wouldn't order any other.
Nick Naylor: Oh! So it's all chocolate for you is it?
Joey Naylor: Yes, chocolate is all I need.
Nick Naylor: Well, I need more than chocolate, and for that matter I need more than vanilla. I believe that we need freedom. And choice when it comes to our ice-cream, and that Joey Naylor, that is the defintion of liberty.
Joey Naylor: But that's not what we're talking about
Nick Naylor: Ah! But that's what I'm talking about.
Joey Naylor: ...but you didn't prove that vanilla was the best...
Nick Naylor: I didn't have to. I proved that you're wrong, and if you're wrong I'm right.
Joey Naylor: But you still didn't convince me
Nick Naylor: It's that I'm not after you. I'm after them.

LMAO...

I need people to argue with me, though... It's how I learn!

(by opposing me, they just make me stronger... rawr)

For wheel hop - replace your diff bushings.

how much boost are you running? seq or non-seq?

I dont have a boost gauge yet, so I have no idea what boost im running, but I know I need to get one. I dont know anything about drag racing, that was my first time at the track. What I did was dump the clutch when I took off, and thats why I think my time sucked. Next time I go to the track, I wanna have better tires, a dif brace to stop wheel hop, and try let the clutch off slowly at less RPM, so I take off fast, but I dont wanna burn out. I think if I didnt burn out I could have hit maby 14.7 or less which is more normal.

Even after 2 hard runs, the car did not overheat, detonate or have any problems at all which I think is great

I dont plan on racing every week, otherwise I WILL start breaking things and I dont want that since its my daily driver lol. On my to do list: practice hard launches without burning out, stiffen rear end to stop wheel hop, get stickier tires for better grip, get a boost gauge. Thanks for all the feedback.

btw, what is a pinion snubber?

you really need a boost gauge with these cars since they don't come with one stock, you could be bosting below or above 10psi & not even know it.

I think he's granny shifting. Dude, do what others have recommended, get a boost gauge. The heck with your time, your trap speed is way too low. You might have a boost issue.

Your probably not making 10psi. If someone replaced your vac lines to your wastegate solenoids and didnt replace the pills I think that puts you around 7psi, also depending on your mileage that precat in the stock downpipe can be hurting you alot. Dont put a straight pipe on your car like someone else recommended, thats the easiest way to blow an engine in an fd, especially if you dont have a boost gauge to monitor.

Ok you know what? I remember when replacing my vacuum hoses to silicone, seeing a vacuum hose that leads to nowhere, and it was capped off. My car is boosting ok and I have plenty of power, but this is probably the reason why im not getting as much power as I should.

The previous owner told me he had Mazda replace all the vacuum hoses in 2002 (which by now they have already been replaced again with silicone by me) Mazda apparently installed the vacuum hoses wrong, and certain hoses are going to the wrong locations, even though the boost FEELS ok now. On a day off, this is something im going to investigate... I hope it isn't too hard to replace the old vacuum hoses and relocate them to the correct places. Now it's starting to make sense. There's no boost leak because the vacuum hose is capped off, and the power feels ok, but im missing out on the full potential of this car. Thanks! now I have a new project...

Ok here goes! I took a picture of my Pressure chamber, and where both of the vacuum hoses lead to.I used a red line to indicate where the vacuum hose starts, (Pressure Chamber) and where it ends. One of these vacuum hoses is leading to a wrong location, does anybody know which one it is?

Here a picture of the first vacuum hose

Here is the second vacuum hose, this one is kinda hard to see where it goes , so I put 2 pictures

Does anybody know which one it is?

Well if you already know one of your vac lines is wrong it would be a good place to start.

You are still going to want a boost gauge to make sure you are making and holding 10psi after you think you have everything sorted out, otherwise you will have no way of knowing if your car has a healthy boost pattern.

according to that diagram, My picture 1 vacuum hose is connected to the right place. My picture 2 vacuum hose is not. the other pressure chamber vacuum hose suppose to connect to the Y pipe as it shows there, and mine is connected to something else...? Anybody have an FD where I can drive by locally and compare mine to yours so I can figure this out?? I hate trying to fix somebody elses mistake

Don't feel bad. Took my 540bhp corvette to the 1/8th mile track here in San Diego two years ago and blasted off an amazing 9.5 @ 85mph. It was my first time ever at the track, drove over the burn-out pit by accident(bad idea with 325/25/20 street tires), spun out of the hole @ 1800 rpms, the car pitched about 30 degrees when I hit 2nd and 4-5psi, and got beat out by an 01ish SVT Mustang Convertible who ran a 9.3 @ 83mph. Wish I had the extra 1/8th mile to run his *** down but when you blow it that bad, you don't deserve to win.

2nd time I never saw my times but had to baby it around 1200 rpms out of the hole, not take it over that 4-5psi and granny each shift. Killed a Nismo 350z by about 5 car lengths though. Maybe 8.7ish I figure.

Some of us are not meant to drag race.

A 1987 hyundai excel 4door can do better. In fact, LAPD patrol cars couldnt keep up with it. It was the cause of the 1990 LA riot.

Yup something is wrong. I had a 300whp Integra GSR and I would have TONS of wheel spin. If I remember my best time correctly it was 13.9 at 112 mph. That is a ton of trap speed for the time I was hitting.

Pinion snubber:
http://www.ponyupgrade.com/files/186...904%20MMPS.jpg

Mine looks different..mines pretty much a all rubber cone. It goes above the nose of your differential. Keeps it from hopping around..I've replaced bushings and everything but still had hop. I put the snubber on and have ZERO hop now. Launching is pretty much feathering the clutch and playing with the throttle to minimize wheel spin and maximize grip.
