Weight Scale Hook-up? Anyone know a friend of a friend of a friend? lol
Alright.. I need someone that works at a "CERTIFIED WEIGH STATION" Basically anywhere that has a scale for weighing vehicles like big-rigs, etc.
I am in SoCal, and I'm willing to commute somewhere in the area to do it.
This is what I need:
I want to weigh the truck completely empty, and then I want to load all my crap up and weigh it again... but I want the weight to be way more than what is actually in the truck. I have a few ways of doing this, but this is the easiest. Basically, I put my truck on the sale, throw another two cars on the scale with it, and weight it as a "2 axel" setup. That way I have a weight somewhere over 4ton.
Now the weight isn't necessarily false, but it is false for the cargo that would be in the truck. You're just omitting the other car axels from the weight so it appears that all the weight is in one vehicle.
If you're interested, please shoot me a PM and we'll arrange a date/time.
BTW: I AM NOT A COP! ROFLAMINGO!
Thanks,
-DJ-

Where you PCS'ing to D?? And have you checked with the scales on the Navy base in SD?? If not, a lot of big rig friendly gas stations will have scales and they are usually pretty cool about letting you pad the weight for $40 or so.

Because if Darren is moving off base like I'm thinking then it works like this. For us military folks anyway.
The government will pay you X amount of money per mile and also X amount of money depending on how much cargo weight you are moving. So all of us try to get the scale weight as high as we can so we make more money on the move. Let's say that you will get paid $1000 for 2,500 pounds of stuff. But you will get paid $2,500 for 4,000 pounds of stuff. If you only have 2,500 you need friends and their cars to make you hit the 4,000 pound mark. See what I mean? It's not that you are planning on moving the 4,000 pounds but you want to scales to read that so you make the extra money.

Zach is correct except I already live off base and I am moving elsewhere. The government pays for my move according to weight/mileadge. I have a max weight of 8000lbs to get paid for. I'd really like to make the weight.

No, those won't work. Places like Loves Gas Station and stuff like that work fine. Just need someone to omit the other axels from the scale if I put 3 vehicles on it.

The military doesn't care enough about this scam to bust it. Plus, that's why you go to a "certified weight scale."
Too bad you aren't up here Darren. The scales on base here are a do it yourself thing. You just pull up, press the button, and take your ticket. Made my move off base very profitable!!

Yeah I was also thinking about the 8000lb limit. 2 axel was just an example, I can use multiple vehicles, so thats fine. Split the weight per vehicle and I'll be safe. i'll use a friends truck and a uhaul.
Damn, do yourself scales.. nice.

In Response:
26' Uhaul 2axel
Capacity
* Volume: 1,592 cu. ft.
* Max load: 7,395 lbs.
* Gross vehicle weight: 20,000 lbs. max
* Empty weight: 12,605 lbs.
I'll use the 17' and my friends truck. 17' has a max load of just over 5700, I'll load up 5g's and use the other 3 on a buddies truck.
