funny thing is i used to go religiously every friday since i work at nordstrom which is a block away but i too got disapointed since most of the people that took rx7's which werent that many didnt really care much about the rotary, they just saw it as a car that runs somewhat well and is good for racing.
if you go tonight you might see aron, he's running a red FC with carbon fiber hood and IS POWERED by an LS1.
and theres this other military guy running an fc with the three rotor cosmo configuration.
to make long story short i havent been going because my RX-7 is out of service at the moment and i dont want the enbarrasment of showing up in my beater honda. LOL. but you should go.

My 7 is still down waiting for a turbo. I will however roll up in my beater a 69 toyota corona if we need to put up some numbers. Everyone I know except one person has a down 7 right now.
Oh yeah I went there once in my T2 and was all alone.......

Ummm....they were interviewing the organizers of Streetlegal over the weekend and they were saying that unless Streelegal can find a sponsor by the end of the month, they're done. They don't have any money to continue and they don't make enough revenue off of the drags to pay the bills. If they close, looks like everybody will have to make the trek to Barona (which happens to have a real nice 1/8 mile from what I've heard).

I don't understand how street legal doesn't come up at least even. They have quite a few sponsors.. collect $30 for each racer and $10 for each spectator with huge turnouts. Timing equipment is not that expensive.. I've checked. All the people besides the police and ambulance are volunteers.. but they say they are broke every year? I could understand when it was $15 and $5 and they didn't have sponsors.. but what's going on? It can't be that expensive to rent the parking lot if the auto-x can do it. I'd just cut down on all those off duty officers.
Barona is a nice track but it doesn't have the "spectacle" aspect of race legal with all the people watching and the music/announcer.. and it's a much further drive.

Ive gone many times in 3 different rx7s since they opened. I normally now go with my bike, its allot more fun and scarry to be at 100mph at the end of that track. I haven't been there in months though, no time.
If you do go, buy the tickets on MCRD. they sell race tickets for 15 dollars and spectator tickets 2 for 5.

my buddy and i go out there all the time and we always meet some seven fans out there.......he drives a flat black widebody FB and i drive a modded FC........i would be intersted in getting a group of people to show up on the same friday night(that way we can have a big group in the staging area) there aren't nemore events left this year but i'll be making posts on the west forum for everyone that wants to meet up for 1/8th mile racing when it starts up again in january.
