HEY Absence, and Honroc!! Happy New Years!

Well...The SEVEN....lets see! Let start with saying the motor was JUNK!

Here is what I know to be a fact after pulling the motor apart myself with Will, and my brother in-law present. Also had Rob(turbo blk FC) on the phone asking questions. Keep in mind my bro in-law has lots of experience with none turbo rotary motor. He's an old RX3 guy! I did take photos and can post if you guys want to see.

As some of you guys know I have had some concerns with my compression dropping from 110psi new motor, to 90psi. Well after doing another compression check with Will, with it being 60psi on both rotors. There was even bounces on each rotor face, so that told us no broken apex seals. With only 1200 miles or so I decided to pull the motor and NOT send it back to Pineapple to be rebuilt once again. WE tear the motor apart to find damaged rotors where the apex seal slot is. That edge was damaged, chipped. The apex seals were ground down to a razor sharp edge(really sharp, like a knife). The rotor housings were scratched really bad(previous damages). This motor should have not been built with these parts(at least 1 rotor, and both housings). After talking with ROB(turbo fc), we are thinking that the cermet coating may contribute to the "grounding down" of the apex seals. Not really sure. But one thing is that the housings were scared so bad, they shouldn't have been used at all. Let alone one of the rotors was so damaged at the apex seal slot that it shouldn't have been used.

What's interesting is that my last motor had the issue with "ground down" apex seals. The seals are 3mm Hurley seals. The last motor also had cermet coated housing too. With all this happening, its hard to believe that the motor was built to last from a reputable motor builder. I was really disappoint to say the least. I will not be getting my motor rebuilt from them.

I have decided to build my own motors from now on. With a few rotary porting place near by, I will have all that work done by them. Then I will assembly the motor with the aid of some experiencing builders, till I get the hang out if it myself. That shouldn't take to long considering I do everything else myself besides the build. LOL!!

I have not been in contact with Pineapple racing. I'm going my own way, and decided its better to just cut my losses as is. Sometimes its better to not fight a battle that has very little reward!
Pineapple has built me some great motors, and I have broke them due to my mistakes. Things happen, and I'm not blaming them for anything. But one thing is a fact, the motor was built with bad parts, and shouldn't have been assembled with the parts that we found!

So I will be shopping for a 13B core, looking to start all over for the most part. New rotor housings, ported steel, and rotor housings will have to be done. Then assembly. This will be a project for 2010.

After all that I have learned in the years of owning a rotary, and pushing it to its limits. You need to take your time, and do things right. There is an expense to all this, and with times being tough it makes it even harder to keep up with this "hobby." I will continue to work at my rotary, and one day enjoy it like I use to!!

CHEERS!!!

Oh, and the EVO. Nothing has been added. But has been taken off I should say. LOL!!!

I got pulled over 4 times in the last 3 months. 1 Ref ticket, 3 other times were for no front plate. Ticketed 2 out of 3 for no front plate, and tinted windows. Its amazing that I drive the car for a year with no issues, and now I'm getting hit a lot. I asked the peace officer what was up with that and they told me nothing. It's not like I'm a 16yr old driving a ricer honda. But I am driving a stereo type car(honda racer kind)....well that is what my cop friends are telling me. What's interesting is that the ref ticket I got was un fixable. I didn't even have to go to the ref. All I had to do is pay the FULL fine $750 or something like that. The ref ticket I got was such BS. The cop was such an *******!! I was dropping my daughter off at daycare in the morning around 7:30am. It was two cops in a car in Moreno Valley. I was cool with the cop, till he handed me my ticket. Then I asked him, "seriously, don't you have something better to do?!! I wasn't doing anything wrong. You are just ******* with me, and wasting my time. Don't you have some CRIME to stop here in Moreno Valley!!?? Then he says to me, I'm doing my job!!!! I said what?? ******* WITH ME!!?? Then he walks to his car, slams his door!! I got a little laugh at it.

I understand the do something illegal and pay the price. So I get what I deserve for having a modded exhaust, and modded turbo vehicle!! LOL!! The best is getting polled over for no front plate!! That's too funny. Both cops checked it NOT FIXABLE!! $232.00 ticket! I'm going to court on this one, and see if the judge will do something.

Aww...I feel better after a little venting!!! LOL!!

So my EVO is stock, well except the TUNE. Including the shocks. I have to send out the coil overs to be rebuilt. Gotta love the California roads!! I has 2 shocks that were rattling. They do have 40,000 miles on them. I'm not sure if its worth putting all the parts back on, to deal with the LEO(law enforcement organization ) again!! I sometimes hate F-ing LEO!! LOL!! I do miss the power difference of having it, and the sound of the exhaust. I love the sound it makes!! Still moves pretty quick. I've raced a few cars sense then. They think I'm completely stock, and are surprised!!!

Exactly why I only build my own... even though it's now quite expensive and can take a lot of time and maybe cost you a short life motor while you learn how, at the very least you know exactly what the condition of every part that went in it was. Especially true for rotaries where normally non-wear parts like rotors can be easily damaged when other parts let go, and are invisible once assembled.

Seems like almost any pile of used rotary parts can be put together & will run OK for 'a while.' Durability requires using good-condition parts, though, & proper tolerances. Even just for daily use; high-performance use is even more true.

I have never gotten pulled over for a front plate, and I've been driving this car for almost five years now since I got my license at 16. I also drive a stereotypically modified car and have a loud exhaust. Last summer I put on tinted windows as well. So far, I've still never even been pulled over. And its not like I don't drive a lot, I commute 25 miles to school 4 days a week, but work is only 5 miles away. I drive past cops from LASD, SBSD, Pomona PD, Upland PD, and Chino PD frequently. I understand that one day my time will come, but I'm still surprised that it hasn't come yet. Shoot, I've even had my head shaved for the past few years and wear a beanie during the winter. How much more can I do to myself to make me a target for profiling?

RedBaron, I can't believe that your Pineapple motor died again. I'm happy to see you are going to build it yourself but it is unfortunate that its due to frustration.

My wife got pulled over by the CHP just before the holidays... for having a clear plastic cover over her rear plate. On her 2002 Maxima. I've had plate covers (including smoked ones) on my last three cars, total over 2 decades of driving around socal, never been stopped for it.

Cover was only on her plate because she had her registration sticker stolen once. Been on there for 7 years, never a second look.

State has them guys out for every nickel they can squeeze, seems like.

Why do I have a question mark next to the RX-7 on my name? Hahaha. And Honroc is for sure coming too. You can go ahead and put him down for an RX-7 with a question mark as well.

No problem Absence.....

Good times!! Lots of cars, cool people, and a bonus GREAT Weather.

It was fun...some gravel on the ground from the snow fall. That made it interesting going into
the turns. Little squirrely in the turn, but lots of fun!
