My car is currently at R&R Racing. Guy was very helpful, knew his stuff through and through. I asked him for some advice, and he gave me great answers, cleared up a lot of questions I've had for years about the car. He gave me great prices on some suspension parts as well. He went through the entire car and replaced the differential oil as well as adding thicker, new fluid into the transmission, which eliminated a lot of the slop in the stickshift, even though I didn't ask him to. He went above and beyond the first time I dropped it off, and he took great care of the car. For these reasons as well as his vast knowledge of my car, he will continue to get my business, as this is the second time hes had my car in 2 weeks.
He found a 50,000 mile FC and grabbed as many parts as he could off it. He gave me a steering rack and oil pump from it. He owns 4 FCs he told me, and has first hand knowledge of suspension setups. As an information resource and rotary mechanic, he is very helpful.
From what I've read on this forum, I had determined the my 5th and 6th ports weren't opening. I asked him to check them, and he said they were in fact opening, but the lack of top end power was attributed to my 150,xxx mile car having a clogged cat. Hes currently installing a new Cat, as well as the steering rack, oil pump, Tokico Illuminas, and Racing Beat springs. I am dying to get it back, which leads me to my final compliment: he works fast!
I have never been to another rotary shop, but I have heard people swear by Lucky 7 Racing, and I fully intend to try them out or at least talk to them next time my car has an issue. Being in Rancho Cucamonga, in the Inland Empire, theres not really any close shops around here.
