Check your car

Pull the battery tray off and get a good flash light and take a GOOD LOOK of the seams. You **** is most likely bend. The is a jig hole near the front bolt on the frame rail where the subframe bolts on I bet the frame rail is dented or bend right there. The right front took a direct hit, I am telling you most likely the front end is bend.

If there is no frame damage take it to a cheaper shop to get an estimate around $3500 to fix. Take the insurance money and fix it your self sourcing out used parts (Less than 1k for everything) then get it painted ($500) and bam, $2k in your pocket.

Edit: and removing your fenders and bolting on some used ones is easy...simple bolt off, bolt on, done.

why wouldnt i get it quoted at like mazda(there is a body shop at the mazda dealer in SD) then take it to a shop i know well that doesnt charge as much and i buy my own parts. i did that with a dent in my door. and ended up coming out $300 on top.

so my battery is dead...and my car wont start.

would it make more sense to have the insurance company pay me to fix my car get more money, sell it how it is, and keep the check to buy another car?

cus last time they sent me a check.

would it make sense?

im so frustrated. someone find me a fast *** T2. fastest one in my price range is the shine auto one. and its not the prettiest car lol.

That car is a peace though, especially for 6K totally not worth it. All it has is a street port and no cats so I can't imagine it being "fast ***." If he painted it and put all the body trim back on then the price would be a little more reasonable.

I think it is probably worth it, even if its not an amazing deal.

Sure, it doesn't ahve alot of engine mods, but it has some nice aftermarket pieces:

The exhaust
Newly rebuilt and streetported motor
OS Giken clutch ($1000+ part)
The body kit (whatever)
Air filter
Cusco coilovers (almost $2000 part)
Race rad

That said, you can sometimes find heavily modded cars for just a little more in the for sale forum.

If your car is totalled, can you request to keep it and part it out? If you could, I would do that and use all the money for a much better t2. There are still some out there, you just have to look. Unfortunately most of them aren't in the best condition, visually, but at least you'll have a t2.

BTW, if anyone needs bodywork, I can totally vouch for fleetcolormike. I've relied on his expertise many times and he's always came through.

When I was first looking for 7s I really wanted a t2, but asthetics were more important to me. That's why I settled with my S5 na. It had an immaculate interior and a decent exterior. You could always swap in an engine. Good luck with everything and be sure to flaunt some pics of your new ride, if it turns out.

will do. the problem with swapping an engine is, i cant do it myself, there for its mroe expensive, and i cant have my 7 down getting a swap for around a week.

if i get this silver one, it has a maroon interior, so i dont care if it has some flaws. cus lol, its going i think red interior is FUGLY.

I love silver, white, or black cars with red interior. Unfortunately rx7's have more of a maroon interior. But yeah, if you don't want it, swap interiors with maczpayne.

I also understand your concern with having downtime with your car. I'm fortunate enough to have 2 cars, so downtime isn't an issue with me.

As for the silver t2 your looking at, make sure everything is legit and worth 5k. But yeah, I'd keep the silver/red color scheme.

ummm. Nope you are wrong. California insurance policy rules under "Comparative Negligent”. You “may” still be found 100% liable in this loss. The duties you breached. -- You were behind the other party vehicle, therefore you are responsible to maintain a proper lookout, & maintain proper control of your vehicle.

sorry, but I gotta comment on your replied. You make "absolutely" no sense what so ever...!!! BTW it's claim"a"nt (the other party that was involved). And regardless of what situation, jonesfromindia insurance carrier would call him “insured”.

given the situatio, i didnt fully describe everything in detail. he cut accross traffic, pulled infront of my lane, i was going below speed limit. he pulled into my lane, STOPPED, i slammed on my brakes. and hit him. i couldnt see him due to the fact that there was traffic and cars were blocking my view. i was in control.

i already won. so dont agrue

I think that fleetcolormike was under the impression that jonesfromindia wasn't at fault. Now under this assumption, the person at fault's insurance company would have to pay for the damages. Unless the car is considered totalled, then jonesfromindia's insurance company would just pay for the current blue book value of the car. (At least I think that's how it would work). Also, to be fair, it's not nice to make fun of another person's grammar and punctuation on an informal, public forum. I'm not trying to be a dick, but I'd like to point out in your previous post that you yourself made a grammatical error.

Although, that technically wouldn't make sense, we all know what you mean. So please don't flame other members. It's not very nice.

Whatsoever is also one word.

Wink

I also want to add that fleetcolormike works at an auto body shop. They work on insurance claims all the time. I'm sure he knows what he's talking about.

Either way, it was a simple misunderstanding. You might think that I'm going overboard in defending fleetcolormike, but I've known him since we were in seventh grade. You would do the same for a friend.

Cheers.

haha. Why would you assume that I was making fun of his grammar, or best of all flaming him?  Of course I understand that this is a public forum. I type slang and misspelled all the time.? I was just correcting him on the misuse terms.
