Well thanks for the 10 or so posts that were NO help. But for those of you that are helping thanks for real. Police cars around here don't have yellowish tinted headlights. To me it just seemed to be some pos car with an ******* for a driver. I usually go 40 down that street becase it is wide enough to have 4-5 lanes in it. It's just a really wide, empty street. On both sides are a huge conrete walls with one intersection 1/2 way down the street. (No stop signs for me) ....I really don't see that as a resedential street since the houses are on the other side of the damn wall. And I took this way as opposed to highway 99 because the car I was driving (85 bmw 325e) aKa POS DD. Isn't running all that great so I didn't want to get on the highway.
-Also the whole brake idea...if you're going even 5 mph over the speed limit and a cop is near and sees you put on your brake lights he will want to find a reason to pull you over.
Anyways here's a shitty idea of where I was..

Take the financial hit and go to traffic school. To lessen the blow go in front of the Commisioner (Judge) and ask for a reduction in your fine.
If you go to court and say not guilty you will likely end up paying a higher bail (Extorstion) and will NOT be able to go to traffic school. If he was in a car and tailed you, he likely has you on camera screwing up.
Take your hit and make a complaint on the cop. Unless he is in hot persuit he cannot break any laws either. You can get him hit for "Following too closely" likely nothing will happen but it all adds up.

GUITARJUNKIE28, you got damn lucky! The ticket amount is not the thing that kills you, it's the 2 points associated with "reckless" driving, which is anything over 90mph. I was tagged for doing 108 on 101, and thought the ticket was going to cost me $1K plus, wrong, $300 something also, but the 2 points got me kicked out of my insurance, and all other places I try to get insured would quote me some really crazy figure.
Bottomline: don't speed unless you're prepared to deal with the consequences. Even on wide open roads. If you get caught, either go to traffic school, so you get no points, or fight it and hope either the officer doesn't show up, or you have some other defenses. I can tell you this, most defenses don't hold up, so hoping that the cop doesn't show up is the best way.

Yeah for sure I can't afford to get the point (my dad will kick me off his insurance) and since I'm 17 I can't apply for my own insurance (I probobally can't afford it either) Traffic school it is...if it could be helped I would like to get outta this paying no or little money, but I guess the $275? for traffic school is going to happen...

The ticket assassian is a good bet if you are going to fight it. You can also try delay tactics with the court. You know, try to postpone the court dates for as long as possible. Hopefully, when the time does come for you to show up the cop does not.

Going 25 for a couple miles isn't going to kill you quit bitchin nick It's really not going to affect your life one way or another to go 25 but if you speed it's going to affect your life because if you get another ticket you aren't going to be able to drive. SUCK IT UP quit whining about 25mph and just do it.
