It's not fake.
However, Kaizo Bodies cannot be considered "Nissan Skylines". Because of the Kaizo Reman Process and the new VINs and MSO. They are bodies, and that is all they are.
I, the owner, just happened to put the original RB26DETT and all it's components into it. It ends up being the Nissan Skyline GT-R's evil clone.
You are free to put any engine, drivetrain in your kaizo shell as you please. The same rule applies to the Noble shells you buy from 1G Racing. While they do recommend you put the Cosworth V6 Twin Turbo to make your car a Noble M12 Clone, by law you are not required to do so.

When Kaizo Re-manufactuered the chassis. There were certain things that were modified like the seatbelt reinforcing points, and a couple of beams inside the doors etc.
That and Kaizo Cars that have been inspected, and assigned a VIN/MSO (manufacturer's statement of origin from a registered carbody maker like kaizo) can apply for smog exemption in california. I have florida plates on it now because that was an easy way to just get the car driving. But, if i need california plates, i can get it.....i just need to wait the first day of every year at 4 am at the DMV to get my smog exemption tags.
State legal cars, and even the Motorex Nissan Skylines cannot do that.

and yeah the reason you would have to be there so early first day of the year here is the kit car registrations go fast as hell here.

i know someone with a nissan skyline gt-r legally registered in CA and a hell of a lot more went into him having that car here then paying someone to say its a kit car as his is not.

There are only 8 or so CARB/FDA/EPA Legal "Nissan Skyline GT-Rs" here in California. The rest are all FDA/EPA legal cars. The California Nissan Skylines are very very special cars.
Problem was 1) All the 32s that are motorex cars are modified to hell (I.E: Upgraded Turbos and the sort)
2) I did not want to deal with smog, and
3) I did not want to pay 60,000 for a modified Motorex or even federalized 32.
The Kaizo cars are 50 state legal, i found a clean one that was all original and the drivetrain assembly was unabused with the stock airbox, and the price was right, so i went for it. It's just a different way of getting to a similar goal
But, you are correct: It is not a "nissan skyline".

1) Ask your friend if his is a V SPEC or V SPEC II. There may be a few close to stock ones, granted...i don't know everyone who has a GT-R.
and, ask your friend if his car is a FDA/EPA Motorex car, or a CARB/FDA/EPA Motorex car? If he has a CARB Approved R32 GT-R with the California stickers on the door jambs, then that is rare as hell regardless.
I am glad we could agree on the rest.

Kit cars typically have different motors and you have to prove that you imported things disassembled on a palette and had someone Here assemble them, either you or a shop. But that was from we reading up on a TVR Segaris, and looking to legalize that, so I don't know what your Kaizo mod brings you there....

Then it's a "Kit Car" since you can't get the Smog Exemption on Jan1 For production models... and I'd say the guy at the DMV would have the same reservation as we would, if it's a Kit Car, how come it's got a Nissan Motor in a Nissan Chassis ?

it has to be certified as a kit car by a "special person" er something stupid to that effect. i really cant remember all the details.
thats what kaizo does. there are a couple companies that do this.
also it means that you need to fight for the very few kit car registrations in CA at the begining of the year.

Kaizo Industries is a registered importer, and is a licensed/registered manufacturer just like 1G Racing, Superformance, RUF, etc... And as long as the bodies come in as spec'd by what the DOT/EPA Considers a rolling chassis and the government gets paid their dues, they don't give a rats *** what Kaizo does in the end. Kaizo then does what they need to do and sell a 50 state legal, modified, DOT/EPA compliant body.
Who said it has to be a different motor? DOT/EPA? Find me where it says that. Otherwise 1G racing will not be selling Noble bodies and providing the same exact engine that the Full complete Noble Car as sold in england comes with. The same concept with RUF. Once you modify a Porsche through RUF, it's no longer a Porsche in the governments eyes. It's a RUF, and is registered as a RUF. Regardless of what everyone else thinks.
How do you think Pettit Racing sold Street legal 20B Rx7s? They did the same thing Kaizo did. It was a factory 20B in a Pettit chassis.
Kaizo is only responsible for bodies. They are not responsible for the complete car. It is up to you what you put into your kaizo body. It's not Kaizo's fault i put the RB26DETT back in my Kaizo 32 Shell.
These are not legal nissans. These are legal kaizo cars. For all it could be, in the governments' eyes.... Kaizo is a "tuning company" just like RUF or Gemballa.
Kaizo is not the first or last company to do such a process either.
For all the people who still did not get the concept of why Kaizo is legal, and the car's are all acceptable to be California Smog Exempt, I cannot do anymore to explain it. People can be in denial about it all the want. People who want to drive Kaizo car, will do so, and the rest will just miss out on the party. Tough break.....keep looking for "california legal nissan skyline GT-Rs".
PS: I think a moderator should cut and post this all in a separate "Kaizo debate thread", and not clutter up teddy's thread.

They have even visited their facility many times, and several members of the DOT, and the team that were involved in the crash testing of the R33 GT-S for Motorex (including the famous Sean Morris) were all involved in making this thing as legitimate as it is. This is the closest thing you will get to getting a GT-R, right now.

I already told her it's not a nissan, like she said.
LOL! at mannyvidal. It is still not a rotary though, and really, i am sad =(.
But, if everything goes well, next car is a Kaizo Rx-7, brand spankin' new 2009 or 2010 Kaizo Rx7 Body.
