I got the bad news call on Friday. Yoshiya and Yosuke managed to free the apex seals through the exhaust ports, but the motor still isn't making good enough compression to start. It has to be opened up to free the side seals ... and my repair bill more than doubled.

Good news is I just picked up a Power FC for it.

It appears that my milled 3mm rotors have side seals rusted into them. They're unsure if the rotors can be salvaged and I haven't seem them, but I guess you have. Yosuke said they aren't capable of doing that work to my rotor, but that I could take them somewhere else and see what could be done. That's a little easier said than done in my current situation and I wouldn't even know where to take them. A machine shop?

My apex seals are fine, though ... that's good ... but that complicates things since good used 3mm rotors are much harder to find. I'm in the process of working that out right now.

another *bump* for Yohsiya and Yosuke @ NeptuneSpeed/GarageRX

pic from another customer. she realized her s2000 was lacking oil and brought it to neptune for some maintenance. completely satisfied and felt confident after seeing the Weld s14 being worked on at Neptune.

Yosuke said they'll get to work on building my motor this week. Everyone pray that nothing else is wrong because this whole operation between shipping, removal, seals and cut rotor replacement, etc. has cost me over $5k. (Oh sure I added a Power FC to it but whatever!!) And the motor that wasted away in it was a newly ported rebuild with 3mm seals before it sat and rusted. So yeah, I'm a little anxious for nothing but good news at this point.

yay.

Thanks!

Motor is done ... car starts ... but it idles around 2000. Yikes. We think it's finding air somewhere. I'm going down there tomorrow to take them my Power FC and see if we can figure out what's up with the idle. I'm starting to get a little excited.

I don't think it's been put in gear at all so still keep your fingers crossed that the tranny didn't rust like the rotors did.

I paid for it over the weekend ... I was so excited to go pick it up today. But I've been denied.

It seems that my engine harness is effed. This all started several years ago in North Carolina when I needed my engine installed and the place that I was advised to take it to ended up hiding my car from me and stripping it. I did get back my new motor, but all of my aftermarket parts were taken and a lot of motor parts were missing. They raped my harness when removing the blown engine and I'm apparently paying the price for it ... still.

Water temp is reading really really low. Tranny won't allow the car to go past 3000 in gear because of a presumed bad reading from the TPS ... I think that's what Yosuke said. It's an auto. Had all of this not happened it wouldn't have been an auto still a really long time ago.

Well the same thing happened to this guy's car, too ... at the same time. They had done work for him and other rotary owners in the past, but I guess came upon hard times. Obviously the shop doesn't exist anymore but I'm still learning the lesson today.

XS Confirmed my oil leak was from the pan but they said the tune should never have been done with the leak. My map sensor was set to 2-bar instead of 3-bar. Since I did not have that problem when I left Neptunespeed and XS was able to fix it, then it's fair for me to say I could have changed it accidedentally. The only way to tell for sure is to look at the map but with the oil leak XS won't put it on the dyno. They did tell me I was lean on idle and richened it with the commander. Anyhow, don't take my comments as positive or negative. I'm only telling my experience since no one else had tuned with them using the PFC before me. Moreover, ArmenMaxx is confirming what they told me about their dyno not loading properly.
I met with Yajima-san today. An awfully nice character, and he took a look at my car and took it for a test drive. Had about an hour to talk to him, and since I literally live down the street, I suppose I'll be stopping by quite often. He certainly seems to be confident in what he's doing, and I will trust that he will take up the responsibilty of standing by what he says.

As for Go-Racer, reading your previous pasts as well as this one, you seem more competent with your car and whats going on with it than the average forum surfer, and with an experience that makes you feel was detrimental to your car, I'd be upset too. Especially in the car world, we have naught but the opinions of others, hearsay, and some technical data to work with. So views will often conflict. I went in today and had him look at my blow off valve, and he suggested that I could take it off altogether.

In any case, if you feel that you did not have a fair transaction or interaction, you should certainly stop by and explain your situation. He seemed quite reasonable when I met him and I'm sure that he would do what he can to upkeep his reputation. It stands true in business; the (rational) customer is always right.
