Reliable Tuner in SoCal

Reliable Tuner in SoCal
My buddy has a 3rd Gen, stock twins, DP, 3.5" Greddy, and the PowerFC. He's blown 2 motors by not having it tuned properly.
Is there a reliable tuner in SoCal with PowerFC/Rotary experience?

You might want to give Louie a call at Rotary Reliability and Racing in Santa Ana.
They just put in a dyno, and they know the PowerFC enough for a safe tune. I don't think they are at the Steve Kan level yet, but it's better than nothing! They used to take all their cars and have them tuned at Apexi.

The first question I would ask your friend is why does he feel like he needs the PFC tuned? Assuming he is just running a stock port motor he does not have enough mods to necessitate a full re-tune, running the PFC stock mod map would be perfect for him and should be reliable assuming everything in the fuel system is in good shape. The timing maps are a tad aggressive possibly but a stock port motor can handle a bit more advanced timing than a street/race port.
Is he replacing the fuel filter each time? Are his injectors clean or are they just throwing them onto another motor without checking them? Is his fuel pump tired out and not providing the proper fuel delivery and pressure?
It's important to figure out exactly why he keeps popping motors, it might not be the PFC tuning, it could be something mechanical and not related at all. It's imperative to have a good wideband and a laptop for logging if you plan on playing with PFC maps and tuning.

stock twins, not stock motor. Cars has: Sidepex mildport, ARC i/c, apex intakes, dp, mp, Greddy PE...and the PowerFC. Fuel is also up to spec. Has a wideband...leaned out...NEEDS TUNING, as aforementioned.

I would say Dave Segalla(guitar junkie), he can speak to his PFC experience. Otherwise, Speed Machine(Dave Gibson), or Danzio Performance(Chris Muzio), both are excellent tuners, PFCs are pretty simple for guys who can tune full stand alones IMHO

i'd do a pfc if you have the dataloggit, but i'm most experienced in haltechs and meecrotechs...but it's not like you rund a different afr or timing with a different ems...it's more knowing which buttons do what on the user interface.

I say go to xs engineering. Before they tune your car they do a full diagnostic to see what parts may need attention. When you leave there you will knowq your car is in full working order.
