reliability mods or no mods?

Guys,

Need your opinions on upgrading the parts for reliability or keep it all oem?
I searched and found mods for reliability...but is it really necessary?? The car mainly sits in the garage and want to keep it oem as much as possible.

What parts should i upgrade that is restrictive to the oem parts? How is the stock radiator and intercooler and intake? Also, what parts can I modify without needing to modify the ecu and have the car safe without issues.

This is my first rotary BTW. Please tell me what I need to know and which brand of parts to go with.

Thanks

Gary

if you just cruise it every now and then, leave it stock...or stockish.

downpipe
radiator
oil coolers
intercooler
intake (is almost useless on turbo cars)
vented hood
front bumper with bigger air hole

any of those are good for reliability. if you notice, they all add cooling ability...see a pattern?

I'd just worry about keeping the engine bay cool. The downpipe helps a lot, and so does an aluminum radiator.

I dont have a vented hood, but did take the time to run lots of ducting. That combined with a radiator panel has made a great difference.

t-78 turbo and full stand alone is how you spell reliability. hehehe, they alreay got it...pretty much anything that adds cooling and frees up airflow into or out of you engine (intake/exhaust) and regularly check/change fluids/belts/plugs...just be on top of it with maintaining you car.

seriously. I used to check my oil and coolant every 3 or 4 times that I drove the car.

i don't check oil or coolant. i have an oil pressure gauge and it's impossible to overheat my motor.

Thanks for the post guys,

The car rarely gets driven, if so, maybe 3-10miles max a day.

Which brands are preferred that require no mods, and straight drop in for the below?
downpipe
radiator (koyo?)
oil coolers(dual oem or just go aftermarket, I have an extra greddy for my z that I may swapp in)
intercooler ( fmic or stock location replacement)
intake (which is best and with a aluminum heat shied or box)
vented hood ( never liked it, but maybe)
front bumper with bigger air hole ( jdm 99 spec?)

Which shops do you guys purchase from that has best service and price?

Hope to meet some of you locals to understand more about FD motor.

hks makes a good downpipe
koyos don't fit--fluidyne if you're lazy and want a drop-in
dual stock is fine, aftermarket is fine, hell, throw an fc oil cooler in there and it's better than the fd single. just about anything is an upgrade for stock.
front mount intercooler works better, but causes overheating... catch 22. the apexi gt spec is the only acceptable front mount, but bend over!
i wouldn't bother with any intake for the twins. maybe a k&n drop-in filter.
hood depends on your budget. cut some holes, install some vents, and have it painted and it'll work as good as an expensive hood...and you already know the stock hood fits.
99 bumpers are good, but just about any aftermarket bumper has a bigger air hole than stock, so it's all personal taste.
