Rack and Pinion messed up...have some questions.

My cars started leaking PS fluid so i took it to get checked and they told me my rack and pinion was done, the mechanic then told me he would replace it with a new one for $370....I know for sure thats too much. anyway can someone tell me how much you would pay for or charge for something like that?

Autozone, lifetime warranty. Put one in about 6 years ago, not an issue. It actually isn't that hard to put in yourself.

Duralast/Rack & Pinion

Price:
$268.99

Core*Core value is the used part that manufacturers use for rebuilding. AutoZone charges the core value to customers because manufacturers include it in their prices. When you return your core to AutoZone, we'll refund your core charge.:
$60.00

Total:
$328.99

Part Number: 8452
Warranty:
Limited Lifetime
Application:
Power steering

A new manual rack is about $100 more than a PS at Autozone. Just for perspective.

Me, I'm a power steering kinda guy.
