Police raid at a parking lot car meet in Riverside

What is this world coming to, nobody was even moving! I am sure some people at these events might race. However most, like myself just go to appreciate the cars.

Yeah they did that to a meet I was at once up in San Fernando . If no one is acting stupid, I don't see a point to bust it up like that. It helps the local business.

And btw, is that a humvee cop car??

I'm reading through the comment thread on the article and they do bring up a point. This doesn't happen at hot rod meets. The event was alos on private property so the policw really had no business issuing tickets.
Actually now that I think about it my car was hit a couple times last year in the parking area at Coachella. The police refused to come write a report because it was on private property. rrrrr

Hot rods and Harley's get special treatment.

When was the last time you saw a Harley or a big block get an exhaust ticket?

they don't because it is absolutely legal for them. They need the loud exhaust noise "for safety purposes".

I'm young and dangerous, they should let me have a loud exhaust for safety reasons too :P

If you have ever lived near a major intersection . .. . . . Harley's are the loudest BY FAR.

You're wrong, Camaro's and Corvette's get exhaust tickets as well, saying that they don't is like saying white people don't get profiled by African American or Asian cops.
It might happen less often, depending on the ratio of white to non white officers in a particular department.

Prejudice, and bias is everywhere, if you have a "Side" on an issue, there's always someone who doesn't like that side.

I agree that this is a warrantless search on private property, and should be easy t fight in court, but then you're out of $$ for the day off etc... The bottom line is someone always looses. And the Police making $$ of of these sort of things is unethical. Protecting the law, following racers to their illegal racing and impounding their cars = Fine, Law was broken you pay !

If I want to meet some of my friends in a parking lot and I get searched for Firearms the NRA would be all over that !

Nicely said crosby.

hell this would be super easy to fight, and you wouldnt even need to take the day off. Trial by written declaration. nuff said

also, if you can show the cop at the scene that you know your rights, he'll be less likely to write you BS tickets. But you should really know what your talking about before you go shooting your mouth off. I've also heard of police officers that go back to their sqaud car and make notes of peticular situation if the guy was being a douche, so he can remember everything if the douche vehical owner tries to fight it in court.

Bullshit!! Harley boys are the most annoying and inconsiderate ************* on the highway. They're always causing major traffic on the I-15, rolling below 75mph on the fast lane. If you wanna cruise and cant roll over 90mph, get the **** out of the fast lane period. THERE IS A ROAD SIGN THAT SAYS SHARE THE ******* ROAD. IT MEANS BE "CONSIDERATE."

I'd bore them with stories of safety wiring and JB welding parts back together until they left me alone.

There's some truth to Mike's words. I almost brought my car to a meet once, but he advised against it.

yeah I read that article to I noticed that it said that those meet are organized for people to race and things along those lines. That sounds like just a lame excuse to give enthusiast a hard time. But that's just my opinion.

I AGREE! I have been once, it's nuts all the people and how the act. I knew it was a matter of time before something would happen. That is why I rolled down with my lexus hybrid!!! That tends to be the problem with large groups of people. If you keep it cool, then there will be no cops(which by the way most hot rod people usually are). Burn outs, speeding in the parking lot, loud radios, are asking for TROUBLE!

Actually Casper, you are probably wrong about the private property argument. Most shopping centers have signs at the entrance to the parking lot stating that "the vehicle code is enforced here" or something along those lines. It could be such a sign isn't even posted. If it wasn't like that, people could run a muck in the parking lots and that would be bad for business. So the owners give permission to law enforcement to enter and enforce the law.

for the coppers. **** imports.
