Well, it looks like I will be picking up my new Company Car today - a 2005 Mazda6 Sport Wagon Grand Touring!!! I got to order it way back in November, and it is finally here. Even tho' it isn't a rotary, maybe I'll bring it to the meet.......

For a daily driver, I ordered it with an auto trans (heavy traffic) - but for 2005, it is the first year with Mazda's new 6 speed automatic.

A very nice change from the Pontiac Montana mini van I have been in for the past FOUR years!

well, i mounted my new rims on the car (only in the rear for now)....... put on some toyo proxes 4's 245/45zr17..... thats alot of meat back there!!!! i love it!! also bought the 5mm wheel spacers for the front, now just waiting for the 30mm fenders (gonna order them by the end of the month).....

Well I had a close call last night. So here's my story:

about 10 I was leaving my house to go see my girlfriend Emily. So I pull out of my street and notice a car behind me, as it got closer I noticed it was a police car. So I take it slow, made a complete stop at the crossing and everything. Well after following me for a block, he decides to pull me over, oh boy. Anyway there were 2 officers a younger one and an older one, probably training. So the younger one runs my licence, for 5 mins I'm sitting in my car waiting. The older one finally walks up to the car and tells me "your car is very loud, are those stock mufflers. I replied with no they're aftermarket but they are 50 state legal.(Which they are but not all my cat replacement pipes )Also I never took my car past 2.5k so I don't know how they would be that loud.

So he goes back to the car and comes back and asks me if I have an intake. I looked at him and replied "no" Now he asks me to pop the hood since I have nothing to hide. He looks at the bay and hes like " yup, you got a cold air intake with k&n I know that waas expensive" I said thats how it came. Now he looks over to the other side of the bay and looks at the plugs " well this is obviously a rotary, and your missing heat shield and your o2, this thing is highly modified" Heat shield? My o2 is on the other side on the exhaust manifold.(ofcourse I was only thinking that) He proceeds to tell me how bad and illegal this is. The he lets me go with a "friday night warning" And how lucky I was he wasn't a chp.

Well sorry for the long story but I'm so happy this didn't turn into an incident like vipers. Man that just sucks not even 2 blocks away from my house. If these cops see me cruising I can expect another visit. Because I was told to keep it off the streets until its fixed.

That was close Zero, I'm not looking forward to that in my seven. I can't tell the cops " Ya, it's stock. It comes that way!" I will be driving it to the meet on the 12th. Motor is in the car and putting the TEC 3 on today and tomorrow, it's getting close. See you guys there...............

It's so sad that cops treat enthusiasts like we were the same type of lawbreakers as drunk drivers or drug dealers. There are plenty of vehicles out there that are actual safety hazards (the beat up jalopies with smoking tailpipes, the poorly maintained/repaired cars that look like they're going to shake apart on the freeway, etc...), but I've never seen police get involved there.

I agree 100%, I think he was just showing off to his little trainee. He tried so hard to talk like he knew what he was talking about. I probably just happen to be the 1st modified car that was around. I know my RB exhaust is alot more quiet than most.

Good thing his attention was drawn to the driver side of the engine. He may have seen the cut o2, missing smog pump, and test pipes. But he was so stuck on the fact that I was missing heat shields?? I was like "thats where the a/c and p/s go, my cars a base model so it didn't come with any of that."

Anyway, the meet is getting closer. And due to all this rain we can be sure the 18 got washed away again and is closed. Probably a few more are pretty ugly as well.

that sucks zero, sorry to hear about your run in witht he cops, but like you said at least they let you go. i hate it when people try making something out of nothing. (missing heat shields)
with the RX-8 i am trying to keep everything street legal, or close to street legal. like i know the window tint on the sides are not legal, and the intake is not legal, but those are easly fixable if i need to.

Spitfire7, your cars name is very close to Vipers. his cars name is Roxy. (he didnt want to name it Roxanne as he didnt want to name it after his sister.

Wow!!! That is a big *** turbo ya got there. You got to take me for a ride at the next meet.
So is march 12 going to be the for sure date? That way I can request that day off. Man, only been working at my new job for like 2 days and I'm going to ask for a day off. But I just don't want to miss out.

Zero: i have been in the same boat before, i always jsut tell them that i had previous plans on that date, and you would like to take the day/morning off if its ok with them. if not then you will cancell your plans. usually when you word it like that, they are ok with it.

and yes the 12th is a for sure thing now. I THINK we are going to move it to the second saturday of every month for now on.

but dont get yourself in trouble over a meet.

Hey vipers I saw you cruising by my work. I caught a look at your rims, look great. The orange and dark rims look good on the car. Although I couldn't tell if you had them on in th front, you drove by so fast. Anyway looks good.

I want to get a rebuild soon and I would rather do it myself instead of paying a shop 1000+ for it, I could do it and only spend about 500. I was just wondering if anyone has done it before and maybe could give me a hand when I'm ready.

Zero, i have built ONE engine before. it really was not that hard. kinda fun. If you want to, you can try talking to my engine builder and if you still want to build your own then you could give it a wack.... its up to you.

side note...... speeddemon did do a rebuild.......... it now has 2 miles on the motor,..... and its being rebuilt again....... hehehehehehe.... i thought that was funny
actually, it really being rebuilt for high horsepower, not faulty workmanship...... shes gonna be bridgeported..... {drooling}

Hey speed demon you think you could let me borrow that vid?

I really want to tackle the job, but I have my doubts. After all the car is my daily driver so I can't have it out of use for a long period of time. I was thinking of getting another engine and rebuild that one and when the time is right just swap.

I was looking to do a mild street port, and possibly give carb a try.(Yea I know, But I wanna try something different.)

hehehe...... i just did a trade for a turbo 2........ i am going to do a $200 tattoo for his 87 turbo 2.... i pick it up on tuesday..... he said it doesnt run because they took off the turbo and manifold due to a crack in the manifold....... but its been welded, just not put back on....... interior is perfect, minor body damage.........NO TITLE....... oh well, its a parts car for me and speeddemon........ and anyone else who is interested in parts

all im taking is the motor, trans, d-shaft, rear-end, wiring harness, ecu, hood, wing, and mirrors....... so if you need anything that i didnt list, let me know, and ill see if its either there, or in good shape....

knock on wood that i get the car......... im always a sceptic until its in my hands!!

Well Its an 87 so it probably doesn't have a spoiler, what color is it going to be I will buy the passenger door, and put mine on it if this really happens cool
