I figure in the next month or so I would toss up a thread about another Dyno Day for whomever to show up. I have just been waiting for the rain to calm down a bit though.

Eh dunno his address, but his screenname is Karack and he posted on this thread about 10 posts up from here...his avatar is Inuyasha. Just PM him and he'll get back to you. As far as prices I know he's way cheaper than most places, but not perfectly sure on his prices..

I think his prices or something are listed on the "California Shops" sticky thread, or something like that. That or I think he made a post detailing his prices/procedures thats in his sig. Too lazy to go double check.

Ben/Karack is the man to see as far as getting your RX worked on. I wouldn't let anyone else touch any of mine. Either I worked on them, or he rebuilt the motor.

He'll probably be disappointed... there is about a 20% driveline loss on a RX-8.

I have a 06 Touring myself, but it has been slightly tweaked already.

Ddyno figures I've seen seem to float between 170-190 rwhp. Also ... Car and Driver I think, did an extended road test on an 04 rx8 and after 30K they saw significant power increases, in the 1/4 at least as I don't think it had dyno numbers. Granted that could have been to the new tires they'd put on but I think its time dropped by .3 seconds or something to that effect.

What power tweaks do you have on your car right now Mark?

Yep...As Icemark said, we're local.

I'm going to start monthly cruises out hwy 1 to the coast so you're more than welcome to join.

Also, if you're in Santa Rosa, swing by Aroma Roasters coffeeshop...that's my second home. I'm easy to find.

Icemark on the otherhand, is a workaholic/hermit. lol

Hey, now that I am done with that Chronicle contract I have had much more time.

I even got the 10thAE painted (well I have the color done- I am shooting clear this weekend), and you gotta admit I have been better about answering the phone in the last couple of weeks.

yeah, I only got 193.6 RWHP on my last dyno run with the DSC off.

There is not much you can do really. Even with the Racing Beat Flash, Cat back and Rev intake, most people are only seeing about a 7-10 HP increase at the wheels.

I have pretty much just tweaked the air box, and using the Racing beat flash. But I also added the factory aero kit, rear duck bill spoiler, the foot well lights, Bluetooth, Zune/MP3 player input, new speakers, puddle lamps. Hymie in Aus is supposed to send me the software decode he did on using the OBDII/CAN bus for re-writing the flash on the PCM, but its doubtful I'll see much of a change if racing beat couldn't get anymore.

Ahh sorry Mark, I hadn't heard from you in quite a long time.. I thought you might have headed out of town to somewhere else.. I thought you were kicking around the idea of taking a job elsewhere for a while...

Yeah, we bought a place in Cabo (That I have only been able to get to once in the last 3 months) but then I have been thinking about selling the house in RP and moving to Boise or some cheaper town in Wash state. The money we would make form selling the RP house would more than pay off a new place in Boise or Wash State, and we would both retire, just living in Cabo part of the year and where ever we land the other part of the year.

But it looks like I am at least a year away for that. I just took over as the Facilities Manager at the Charles M Schulz Museum up in Santa Rosa. The offer was just too good to turn down.

But it is nice to be back to a 8 hour day and 5 day work week, instead of what I was doing for Hearst and the SF Chronicle (which was 14 hour days- 6 days a week and 800+ miles of driving per week).

Yeah my friend and I talk about doing stuff to his car but really it comes down to if you want significant power gains you have to go boosted.

Though he put in the mazdaspeed flywheel when it comes time to change his clutch oh 3-4 years from now. Hopefully by then a new RX series two seater will be out with the 16X so I can rock it, all night long.
