Where are you drawing the cold air from? removed headlight? Removed FTP lights? if thats all you did and didnt get it some extra air flow you are likely not going to gain much of anything.. and during any sort of sitting you will likely heat soak worse then before....

The stock airbox is not as bad as everyone bags on it for.

Can you explain why the heatsoak would be worst? I understand that since I used steal it might hold heat. But the area in the engine bay that is actually warm is right behind the radiator and from the engine itself, heat from both these areas should be shielded, or at least better than not having it.

As for the source of cold air. I have no idea how the removed FTP lenses work. There is still the headlights and a piece of metal behind the FTP lense. I don't think that would get any air into the engine bay. Unless that piece of metal behind the headlight can be removed? I might invest in a vented head light cover.

You will get the most heat soak from the air passing through the radiator. It dosent matter what type of materials you use. Most of the reason you use that shield is to direct the hot air away from the intake.I am sure using that roof vent base improved your car's cold intake charge slightly with minimal work.Good Ude of sheet metal.
Completely closing off that side of your engine bay is the best and one thing I know that would help with introducing air to that area is removing the rubber weather seal under the hood that seals behind the headlight.Air will enter through the gaps around the headlight.
Also removing the upper headlight surround works to allow more air into the air intake area.

I always thought vented headlight covers looks tacky IMO.

Below is a copy of the cork sport cold air intake shroud, I believe it is one of the best for the FC if your using an aftermarker air filter.

Junpower said pretty much all that I would... You're best bet is to seal it off, as pictured above with the corksport copy, or something like that. Then get the intake a source of cold air to draw from.

As far as removing the FTP lenses thats done from behind the bumper. Two screws on each if I remember correctly. its more a pain in the *** to get the bumper off then anything else...

I have seen people even draw air from below the bumper a bit which works. Just depending on the height of your car you would need to figure out the best place.

The basic idea is, yeah the K&N flows more air then the stock box, but if you fill it full of hot air then you're not helping it. You get it a nice source of cold air and seal it off from heat (radiator, engine bay) and you're in better shape with it.

Now don't get me wrong i am not trying to bash you're setup just trying to help you get the best results from it.

well skip the FTP since air can't pass through metal.

I think a vent in the headlight will provide some ambient air but as long as the hot air around the filter is kept out you should be good.

XTD and Excedy clutches are good for the money but the pedal feel is always light. I have installed a few on customer cars and there decent. I have had no complaints from them but if you are going to do any performance driving, get a nice clutch.
What's your budget like?
If you need help putting a clutch together let me know.

O'n my gtus I am using,
Racing Beat HD pressure plate
Racing Beat SS Clutch Disc sprung
Fidanza 9 lb flywheel with removable friction surface.

I used this set up for road racing with no problems through out the whole day.

Photo shoot vs. Photo shop

I took a buddy of mine for a mountain run between Grass Valley and Oroville (1hr north of Sac) and shot some photos along the way. I liked the shots where it looks like you can see the engine thru the hood. I had one where the engine bay colors were inversed so it looked like an x-ray but I got to find it still.

Well enjoy a few of the ones I'm posting...
