Give it two or three years and the pc games will start to catch up. But by then the next console will only be a couple of years out. So it will be pointless to ever plan games on PC ever again. Plus you have to play with a mouse and keyboard

i play XBOX360 games on my PC, and im not lieing.
I built this computer, that my buddy is now selling on craigslist. I built this computer almost a year ago. and yes, it comes with a 1080p high definition gaming monitor. and yes, it plays xbox360 games. infact he even has an xbox controller that hooks up via USB.
Now... PC games are caught up with XBOX360 games.. infact, if your video card can support it, they are better.
Now my buddies PC wich i just built last week... his PC surpasses ALL consoles right now, with no problem. Here are his specs.
Intell core 2 2.66ghz 2x4mb L2 cache
8gb super talent ddr2 PC2 6400 dual channel ram (these are 2gb sticks and theres 4 of them)
Now heres where we spent most the money (well aside from the processor)
we have 2 water cooled BFG 8800GTX 768mb 384bit GDDR3 PCIE run in SLI mode.
Phillips DVD blu ray DVD burner
1.5TB from 2 750gb Seagate drives. (these are just for storage.. not for the games )
2 Seagate Cheetah 15k.4 74gb drives for gaming. They are both 15k rpms with 8mb cache (not that great)
2 700watt power supply's
and that will play pretty much everything for quite awhile.

Yeah but how much did it cost to build? My point is you can always build some thing better. But when the 360 was relased the three 3.1gig prossesers were worth more that they were selling the whole sytem for. I belive all three prossers were dual cores and they run a program so each side can handle multiple task at the same time. I mean for 300-400 bucks the 360 is a good deal right? Also all 360 wired controlers have a USB on the end of the cord.
I have a media center computer on my tv in my living room that I have over 1500 dollars into(we built from the ground up, not a dell). I will find the spec's later. Of the top of my head pentium dual core SLI mother board with two grafics cards(cant remember which right now. 1.25 terabite(sp)harddrive. Its actually a 750 and a 500, but I have three more slots for later. My brother in law is a good friend and he owns a custom computer buisness and he built it for me.
In all reality its probobly too much for me. Mostly I just use it to rip and save my movies from netflix
God this sucks I just had my wisdom teeth pulled about two hours ago.

$500...local...shipped will be + shipping
Not broken or anything... i promise guaranteed
this thing cost me $800 altogether
and you all know that the 60gb 20gb drive is totally negligible
as its easily upgradeable. the only thing thats lacking is the
hdmi cable and wireless and the card slot
games are:
Resistance: Fall of Man (great game!)
Marvel Alliance
Madden 2k7 (shaun alexander on the cover...put that
cuz i forget which year each one is)
just need some money now that i might do a rebuild

Yeah, PC is more money... but id rather spend more money on a machine i can use for more than just games
I also have a lot of hookups on parts.. Im a computer tech, and an ex-professional gamer. so i get stuff for pretty cheap.
Im just waiting for about 4 years.. when graphics abilities surpass real life Then.. it will be time to build a dream machine!
Last time i checked prices (including hookups) my dream machine cost a little over 10k lol

You also should keep in mind some people play games on the console to have simplicity. With a computer of course you can configure all video/audio settings and yeah it will run better. But with all of that sometimes will follow lots of problems. Some people enjoy fixing things and hunting down bugs to their hearts content.
Other people want to just come home and play some games without that. Myself for instance... I have a bunch of computers. I work on them all day long building, fixing, repairing and some programming from time to time. I used to love coming home and tinkering with my PC to get the frame rate up a little more in the games I played online.
Right now its, I want to go home play a couple hours of Zelda for the Wii. Or I just use my old xbox running media center to watch a couple TV shows. No debugging involved for me thank you. Running emulation of systems works great for older systems but games like Star Ocean, Kingdom Hearts, Kaido or even Old Xbox games, not so much. Granted peoples likes and dislikes of games are different but its just an example.
Then there's a couple friends of mine who are not computer savvy and can barely check their email but love to play games. They just have console games as they can put the game in, boot it up and play.
I used to play counter-strike way too much with friends playing scrimmages and tournaments. We even played those well known guys that fancy themselves on the TV from time time. It was always good times... Now I enjoy vegging out in front of my TV rather then the computer after work.

I just cannot stop playing those damn Wii sport games, especially tennis. Right now, I am hooked on that Rayman game.

I've always liked playing first person shooters on the PC more than on a console. Far Cry, Half Life 2, Counter Strike, Unreal Tournament etc. My PC is just getting too old to play these new games so i'm stuck with Counter Strike 1.6. I want to build a PC but I know if I do I will spend 2K+ and I don't want to spend that much right now on a PC.

Ex-professional gamer? WTF is that??
Interesting discussion that you and Casey have going though as I really don't know too much about computers. Funny seeing as I work with some of the most advanced technology around right now. But what can I say? I'm just a wrench turner.

Interesting. Never heard of any of that before. But that doesn't mean anything seeing as I don't know much about the gaming world. It's just nuts to me that people actually get paid to play video games.
