New shop in So Cal! Check it out!
There's a new shop in the Palm Springs area that specializes in RX-7s, everything from mild to wild engine builds, show car to track car. We install & tune Haltechs and Power FCs, porting, even general repairs for the 7. The shop's name is Illicit Performance and we're located right outside of Palm Springs, on Indian avenue right off the 10 freeway. Check out our Myspace page if you want to see some examples of our work - http://www.myspace.com/illicitperformance - there will be more pictures up over the next few days so be sure to check back.
We're gonna have a grand opening party on September 2nd, starting at 3 pm and ending whenever we get tired. Everyone is invited! If you're interested in coming out, either send me a PM or reply in this thread and I'll give out directions on how to get here.
Thanks for looking!

Thanks for all the kind words!
Andy, let me know when you get back if you need help building that engine. We do full porting now, from mild up to bridge ports.
For those who want to come check us out, the shop address is 19020 N Indian Ave, Suite 1-A, North Palm Springs, CA. If you're coming from L.A./Inland Empire, take I-10 east. When you see the windmills, you're getting close to Indian. Get off Indian and take a left (north). Pass over the bridge, and you'll see an industrial park on the RIGHT (EAST) side of the road. Make a right into the complex and take your immediate right, we're the suite on the end.

The BBQ went down on the 2nd, we had a really good turn out, sorry I didn't get back to this thread sooner. I've been hard at work between the shop and my 8-5, I didn't have time to check back here.
MaczPayne, hopefully sometime in the near future we can get together so I can check out the FC. Just let me know.

That's understandable, gas is pretty expensive, especially with a thirsty rotary. I will be at Sevenstock and I'll hit you up on PM to get your number, so I can check out the car when I'm there.

Heh, hopefully it'll look just as good as it was before, when it was yours. It's a never ending project.
So I heard you guys also do Dyno Tuning; what are your going rates? I'm going to invest in a wideband sometime later, and I'd like to learn how to tune my MicroTech.

We offer full tuning services. In most cases, we prefer to street tune, it offers more "real-world" conditions and is more than adequate. We contract a dyno if we're looking for an exact number, or want to take the tuning to its "ultimate" potential.
I'd be more than happy to show you how to tune your Microtech, in regards to fueling. Timing is a little different, I'll help you with the basics and you can take it from there. I have a wideband so if you want to get a little better gas mileage out of the FC before you pick up your own, we can work on that too.

Well I'm grateful that the car ended up coming back to life, and not chopped up or rusting away in a junkyard.

But after that, I'm gonna be doing some major work to the car. Dave was the last Microtech tuner that I knew, so it's good to know that someone nearby has knowledge of the system!

Cool. Steve Kan's gonna have a whack on the car first. I'm not gonna be changing my setup for a while, as I have previously withheld obligations to fulfill. I also want to see how much power I can squeeze out of a stockish setup.
