Need someone to weld an AN fitting for me

Hey,

Anyone weld aluminum?

I need to weld an AN fitting to a 13B front cover for a turbo swap. It's a small job, but I would be willing to pay for your time.

Any help greatly appreciated.

You can tap 1/2" to a GSL-SE front cover. There's no pressure in it so tap is fine.

I have looked for a 10AN tap, but have not found one. Know anybody that has one?

Use a NPT tap and a AN to NPT adapter. I don't think there is any such thing as an AN tap due to the design of AN.

that sounds pretty jewish... I would only think that it would be like welding a bolt onto a block and screwing the mount onto it lol

for what? if you go to that store in burbank (i cant remember the name), you can get NPT to AN fitting. yeah, tap it with 1/2 and you're set. IF you need it ASAP , then I got one that you can use. BTW, after doing several SE front covers, my bro noticed that some covers are thiner and softer than the usual ones.

I believe Metric Specialities is the name you are thinking of. Also, you are right about the different front covers. Some of them are actually not even pure aluminum. Mine is marked with an MA, and appearantly it is some sort of aluminum alloy. Magaloy I think.

Anyways, I took the front cover to Orme bros. in Northridge. Hooked me up with the fitting, and the weld for $30, so I am all good. Come by and check out the project when you have a chance. It is finally moving along.
