^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Do you see that statement Jen? Thanks Chris for proving my point.
I guess the "No Fear" adds/company worked on you. Fearlessness is stupidness, no offense. Fear is what keeps you alive. Knowing a healthy fear of something and assessing the risks is smart. I know that sounds military-ish, but it's true. Besides, you guys know full and well that I'm no timid driver.

Your reasons are as relevant as others; just not applicable to this situation. Knowing your driving history, I sure as hell don't blame you for not partaking in marginal behavior involving vehicles. As for being married, I'm not above or below anyone, my statement reflects that I am more focused on my actions due to their consequences. Hell, I worry for them almost as much. When Chris told me they had crashed (I couldn't see it was him, it was dark), I freaked and was going to bomb it up the hill to provide medical assistance.
Admission of guilt: I thought that due to our fast pace, Chris had crashed and I felt guilty.

no you missed my point if you think to hard on consequences on how to asses a turn or follow a line by the time you know it your off the cliff because you were to focus on the consequences and not paying attention to what your doing or the road hey i am afraid i am not going to lie but driving through there you cant be afraid cuz it is a distraction and you lose focus

fear is a sign of weakness and a distraction that can kill you out there if your to cautious
2cute--- i agree to certain point about taking it to/doing on a track!!!!! would be a smarter thing to do but this is all i can option for at this moment in time.
plus, really every one knows their limits and if they dont- they must not be thinking of their loved ones!!!!!

My comment was aimed at Chris, but I mentioned you to show you the mindset that I was speaking of in re: single young guys (or even crazy *** Chris with a serious GF!). Mikey is a perfect example of maturity and it's conflict with my "***** to the wall" driving. He knows that he's not exactly invincible. He's not a fighter pilot, he's a guy behind a sports car. Backing off, knowing that he's reaching his limits is okay.
I don't question your bravery and for that fact, anybodies abilities when it comes to driving. I'm sure you could lap the **** out of me at the track. I think at least Mike can attest to my less-than cautionary approach to driving though

In conclusion:
-I don't think I'm special/above anybody/have more to worry about, I'm just more focused on my consequences than a typical single guy or just 20-something in general.
-I understand what Chris meant now, cliche and all muthafucka!
-I know Jen that, because of your driving history, you can't be out doing the things that we do (it would be cool if you could though). My first statement was not a slight, just fact.
-Rodney King said it best "Can't we all just get along?"

your still missing my point when your canyon carving there is no time for fear save that for before or after cuz if your to afraid that can distract you causing an accident its like if you spin out if you freak out your going to make it worse but if you relax then you will be ok and asses the situation better

Semantics (Greek σημαντικός semantikos significant, from semainein to signify, mean, from sema sign, token), is the study of meaning in communication. In linguistics it is the study of interpretation of signs as used by agents or communities within particular circumstances and contexts.[1] It has related meanings in several other fields.
Semanticists differ on what constitutes meaning in an expression. For example, in the sentence, "John loves a bagel", the word bagel may refer to the object itself, which is its literal meaning or denotation, but it may also refer to many other figurative associations, such as how it meets John's hunger, etc., which may be its connotation. Traditionally, the formal semantic view restricts semantics to its literal meaning, and relegates all figurative associations to pragmatics, but this distinction is increasingly difficult to defend[2]. The degree to which a theorist subscribes to the literal-figurative distinction decreases as one moves from the formal semantic, semiotic, pragmatic, to the cognitive semantic traditions.
The word semantic in its modern sense is considered to have first appeared in French as sémantique in Michel Bréal's 1897 book, Essai de sémantique'. In International Scientific Vocabulary semantics is also called semasiology. The discipline of Semantics is distinct from Alfred Korzybsky's General Semantics, which is a system for looking at non-immediate, or abstract meanings.

and im not bashing on you or any of you guys im just putting it out there.
and realistically your limits are altered by road conditions. i have been up palomar more times than i can count and found a nice patch of unexpected gravel in the middle of a nice banked turn. (yes i understand that your reaction to a situation are factored into "your limits") but unexpected things such as that are hard to deal with if you dont know how to.
i have seen some really great drivers hit things because of something as stupid as someone that lived in the neighborhood they were driving through turned their sprinklers on and there was a nice little river across the road.
im seriously not bashing on any of you guys. you do what your going to. im just saying....

2cute---- i hear you loud and clear. I have seen my fair share of stupid accidents occur as well, I will agree that the unexpected unknown factor is one thing I will never be able to control. I am taking a big risk doing what we are doing(I'm doing),
However, I feel pretty confident(not in my driving) but in the Pack of drivers I'm running with not one person, and i say this clearly "not one person" is out of their mind when I'm up there driving. @ least not in our pack!!!! This is why I don't **** with people i don't know about(mentally). and at the same time, Yes i lose myself in the moment as well at times.
But over all I am confident in myself with the car and the people who R&R with me that i don't let Fear control nor mistreat the laws of Physics.

You're right. I'll tell you this, I've driven Palomar quite a bit now; it changes every time I go up there, regardless with who I'm with or with what car. For instance, I know my limits pretty well up there with my FD. I've driven it in my 8 with my wife even. I drove Dave's Evo up South grade and I was pretty tentative. I did gain more comfort and actually came into a corner pretty hot. He was gracious and didn't freak out. Going from RWD to AWD is pretty foreign to me.
Just like with Chris, or even me; Dave will lead in his Evo and I've learned that my braking pattern is a lot different (not to mention my driving style). Dave has to brake and then try to accelerate in a turn to hold grip. I, on the other hand, will trail brake and stab, stab, stab at the gas (I guess like Tsuchiya does?) That was the biggest thing we discussed, brake pattern and watching it. I know Mike can watch my pattern easily going down a hill, but up a hill is a different story. Up until now, he didn't have suspension and he still has 225s all around I think.
All in all, I'm slowly learning that it's not about the start or finish; it's everything in between on a cruise.

I don't know why Mike says that. Honestly, I think he's an awesome driver and that's not a warm-fuzzy or anything. I think he is just learning his FD and is adjusting. If nothing else, Mike is humble. He's a lot better than he would let on, or say about his confidence. Now when he goes to slap on that 500R... that might be another story!
That's how this whole discussion got started, because he gets wore out driving with me. He looks like Mistress Tanya whipped on him for a couple hours after canyon carving. I can't say that I'm not either... I was ******* DYING when we did 4.5 of Palomar/canyon runs and then jumped into karts.
Edit to add: Jen, come out to Palomar with us sometime in the FB. Just don't tell LSD-Ryu, he'll try to drift battle you!

yeah but that can be a vry very bad mixture....being a good or relatively good driver and not being confidence. the quickest way to **** up on a course it to lack confidence......
