For autocrossing, the SCCA classes the RX-8 in B-Stock , and the S2000 in A-Stock. This would suggest that the S2000 should be faster around an autocross course, given equal driver skill. However, I've heard that the disproportionate roll centers on the S2000 make it tricky to drive at 10/10ths.

Here are the top times from each car at this weekend's race in Fontana:

RX-8 (BS): 51.267
S2000 (AS): 51.933

Looking at these results, it's possible that the RX-8 is easier to drive quickly, or the driver in the RX-8 was simply more skilled than the driver in the S2000.

For reference, let's add the best three times in SS (super stock, which is one step higher than AS), and the runner-up in AS:

Corvette Z06 (1st in SS): 50.750
Corvette Z06 (2nd in SS): 51.189
RX-8 (1st in BS): 51.267
S2000 (1st in AS): 51.933
RX-7 (FD) (3rd SS): 51.934
'05 Mitsu EVO (2nd AS): 52.563

Unfortuneately, the results are not quite conclusive, as autocrossing is very dependant on driver skill and tires, which are unknown to us. In fact, it's very likely that our data is wrong, because I think we all know that the -7- can't lose!!!

By the way, I drove my friend's RX-8 this weekend (thanks Casey!), it's a very nice car, and seemed a bit easier to drive than my FD. I haven't driven an S2000 yet, what do you say, Fumanchu? Want to meet me at the autocrosses?

Riiiight. Besides the fact that there wouldn't be any benefit to turning the engine that fast because port flow would limit power long before 16k rpm, the higher you push the power curve in the rpm range, the worse your drivability becomes. It's obvious that you have no real experience with engines.

right now im running a t60-1 and am around 440/445rwhp
Sure you are. What are you using for engine management? Anyone who had to tune a turbo RX-8 has probably seen dyno time, so why don't you know exactly how much RWHP you're making? Why is it "around" 440/445 RWHP? Is that because you're "just about" full of ****?

another stupid noob kid gone from the west section. I don't really see that as a big loss. I'd be really surprised if this kid tried to argue with Jimlab. That would some great pwnage, though.

I challenge Jimlab to a v8 vs. Rotary argument.

K, I lost.

alright well this thread has gone abit offtopic but gained a lot of responses, congratulations dickface, very mature of you, i wouldn't have expectd that from such an experienced knowledgable rotorhead that puts people down left and right that thier car is insufficient compared to your almighty honduh, you've succeeded in whatever you're trying to do(everyone clap) but i dont really give a **** what the majority of the people here think or laugh about.

id like to clear up the fact that a lot of you don't know what's gone on fully, obviously he's going to post some of our conversation that seems very skeptical and to his advantage and to make me appear dumb, but whats worse is a lot of people simply did not read the thread well enough, you're all getting on my *** for how impossible it is to make a renesis rev to 16k, I NEVER SAID YOU COULD MAKE A RENENSIS RUN A 16K REDLINE IN A RUNNING CAR. there is a BIG difference between an engines capability and a practical modification in a RPM increase, about another 1000-1500rpms, and it would take it like nothing, the RENESIS can rev extremely high but obviously it wasnt practical for mazda to exploit it further(plus how many people in the average demographic of their sales are going to be revving their engines 10-11k rpms?? the car is supposed to be a comfortable sporty daily driver thats fun to drive) anyways im about done for now mr fumanchu, enjoy your s2000 its a good car, i didn't mean to come off to harshly but you ticked me off after reading many of your rude comments towards rotary cars and some bloating of the s2000s capabilities.

Seems skeptical of WHAT? I bet your English papers had a lot of red marks on them. Either way, you sent him a private message. He didn't know you. You ran your mouth off and said some really stupid things. He pointed it out. Personally, I think it is wrong to EVER post PMs in a public forum, but that's just me. Is he wrong there? Open for debate. Arguing with him, and insulting people just makes you look WORSE.

One good thing is that you've made me feel like I actually know something about rotaries. Thanks for that.

What is a stealthfox, anyway... odd name. anyway thats what fu does, bashes whoever, whenever. then bashes ones grammer or lack of . Some people take drugs some people hurt kids to get off. fu bashes forum members to get his rush. A 16 K rpm rotary engine is not imposible but is most unlikely for street. He's given me crap in the past but no biggie. I'd like to see someone **** him off once though.

Doesn't matter. The fact that you said it at all was enough.

it wasnt practical for mazda to exploit it further
Because there was nothing to exploit.

i didn't mean to come off to harshly but you ticked me off after reading many of your rude comments towards rotary cars and some bloating of the s2000s capabilities.
So you thought you'd make up a bunch of **** about the Renesis. Wow, you really showed him...

hahahaha. this kid keeps getting but keeps coming back for more.

stealthfox: you obviously don't get it. Fufu can bash the rotary all he wants because he had one, but feels that his new S2k is better. You PM'ed a guy that you don't even know to run your mouth about how your renesis is so great and how it's so much better than a "Honduh".

You keep making it sound like you're taking the high road, but it's obvious to everyone that's reading this that you started a battle of wits with someone who's much better armed than yourself. Like Fufu said before, stop trying to save face. You've been owned twice by one of the most respected guys on this forum. Just admit your ignorance and don't do something so stupid again.

i don't see how someone can get offended with a comment like "rotary sucks" or "honda is better" etc. If you lived your life according to what people said on a forum, you would probably be shacked up in a cardboard box trying to figure out if you can bite your own ear if you moved your head fast enough.

stealthfox here just needs personal experience, as opposed to just "reading" **** on the forum. they're 2 different things.

fox, just don't talk anymore. i assure you, you're just treading yourself on troubled waters.

ahahahaahahaha, I don't live my live according to what people said on a forum... I live my life a 1/4 mile at a time...

Stealthy... we know FU, he's a dick... well, not really but you know the old saying "you are what you eat". Anyway, Fu's an ex-RotorHead, a bad one granted but he was one once so he can jock any car he wants, right or wrong it's an opinion, yes, like yours.... now about my bad grammer...

not any rotary, a renesis, and unlikely is an understatement, its more like NEVER, at most for real street use probably about 12k, but that wont be here for a very long time as rx8 owners are wimps right now and are all waiting for their warrantys for expire so don't expect to see any fast rx8s for the next few years. you'd need apex seals made out of kryptonite to make a 16k for street...

-edit-

also, i'd like to point out im not going to "give up"...well i never really even gave a **** about this "arguement of wits" and such, i dont give a **** if im "getting pwn3d so bad, i need to go sit in a corner and cry myself to sleep) either way i dont have to worry about any reputation, im a 15 year old punk *** kid who knows nothing anyways with a 190 post count and haven't even been here for a year, contragulations Mr. Fumanchu, you're grammar and debating skills exceed that of a 15 year old child, (i'd be worried if you didn't) you deserve a medal.

Damn, you are making feel bad now.

In any case, you can be proud that this thread actually brought the West Section back to life. Even the **** **** star Vchacon showed his beautiful face.
