26708.5. (a) No person shall place, install, affix, or apply any transparent material upon the windshield, or side or rear windows, of any motor vehicle if the material alters the color or reduces the light transmittance of the windshield or side or rear windows, except as provided in subdivision (b), (c), or (d) of Section 26708.
27151. No person shall operate a motor vehicle with an exhaust system so modified.

my friend went to an eyedoctor said that his eyes are very sensetive to light and he is always on the road, and during sunrise he gets killer migrains. He asked the doctor if he could tint his windows. The eyedoctor gave him a medical permit to tint his windows down to as dark as 20%. There is no test for how sensetive your eye is to the light and how you react so th edoctor just taked your word for it and you're off.

^^ That is sweet might have to do that one. The "legal" limit of noise from a given muffler is really up to the cop busting you. There is an 80 decibel limit at 50 feet, but cops aren't carrying decibel meters around to check so it's up to their discretion. I think if you can prove it isn't over 80db at 50ft then you might have a case against him for that. Good luck. and FTP! (**** the police)

**** CA. You guys have the worst cops in the world. Get a ******* life and bust some real criminals. What the hell is with them. I have never been there so I dont know what could possibly justify the training, money, and manpower behind the enforcement of your ridiculous laws. Can anyone explain this to me?
Just to clarify I followed this fom the tech section I am not hanging out in the west forum.

Tint is dumb. Wear sunglasses to cut glare. I just replaced the windshield and drivers window today on the SE because some PO had them tinted. Tint jobs reduce visible light (especially at night) and those damn films distort everything.

CHP doesn't sign off exhaust tickets anymore, you have to go to a BAR approved testing facility to have it tested. BE SURE TO DO THIS ASAP before your court deal, because you have to set an appointment. (YES, I know, happened to me twice). And yea, putting your cat back in and the silencer will help. I have an Apexi GT spec on my 87 turbo II stock cat and silencer, came out at 85.6 dBs, which is almost ten below l the legal limit. (95 +/- 1 dB)

I have driven in many states in the USA over the past 30 years (yeah I'm older than most on this forum) and have been pulled over by CA, IL, DE, NJ, FL, OR and AZ cops in rental cars and RX7s. I'm sorry but the CHP are the best! For example, a CHP gave me a choice the last time I was pulled over. Fix-it ticket for the window tinting or ticket for 85 mph. Yes he gave me a choice! The choice was obvious. As for the the non-CA "State Troopers" as the other states call themselves they are nothing short of giztapo *****. They walk up to you car all puckered up and paranoid with their hand on their gun, talk military and write you up for anything and everything. Plus they drive unmarked vehicles! The CHP cannot use unmarked vehicles for patrolling and clocking speed, etc. Yes they might be driving an all-white Camaro but it has lights on top and an emblem on the door. Sorry man the other state cops suck, CHPs are generally pretty cool just don't **** them off.
Yes, any applied window tinting on the driver and passenger door is illegal in Ca. period. If you have it, it's just a matter of time before you get written up. ...maybe you'll get the same choice as I did. Might be worth keeping it on.

**** cali!!!11!!! I roll around with limo tints all around and get stoped all the time. Lucky for me half the cops in this stupid state are ex-marines and as long as they see my military ID they let me go. If there is sunlight out I have my windows down most of the time, so it helps.
I did get caught up once and I popped my hood for a pig, too bad for him he didn't know dick about rotaries......

I got pulled over on the way home last week. I just left base so I was still in uniform.
I wasn't speeding, but my car is stupid loud. He heard the turbo spool (not boosting, just whistling) and he spun around and pulled me over. (I saw it coming.. as soon as I passed him I turned off on a side road and pulled myself over, lol)
He said, "I'm not going to give you a ticket, I don't give marines tickets... but your exhaust is loud and you need to slow down."
Wasn't speeding, but he thought I was due to the sound. Technically I was doing 38 in 35 - I suppose that could be considered speeding.
Of course, I have AZ plates and drive aroudn in CA all the time. Thats the 2nd time a cop has pulled me over cause he was mislead by the sound of my exhaust.
He decided to stand behind my car as I backed out to leave the parking lot. Yeah.. thats right... it's loud.
Eh, I don't know how many tickets I've gotten out of due to being in the military. Makes me want to re-enlist.
