******* cops!!! pt. 37

they've now resorted to making **** up.

i was cruising with el nene, tony, fris, and young gay anjew last night . anjew rolled a stop sign, i stopped, let an suv make his turn, then went.

2 seconds later there's a cop zipping up on my *** with the lights on. so i kill the motor so he doesn't notice the exhaust and pull over. showed him the papers and all that crap and he says he pulled me over for running the stopsign.

i didn't run the stopsign....

well i say you did--he turns to his partner, didn't it look like he rolled that thing to you?
ohhh yea, he definately rolled it.

what the ****???

so i got a ticket for that and for registration--my car is registered, mind you. i just haven't got the stickers from the dmv yet. i explained that to him and told him to look it up in his computer. he said he already did, but i didn't technically have the stickers on the car, so even though it's in the computer, i got a ticket for that too.

i understand police are the only government agency that actually pay for themselves, but come on. do they have to just make **** up now?

heh, i'm with you to a point, though i don't give them an attitude right off i don't feel i should have to kiss their *** to avoid a ticket either, i guess that is why more often than not i wind up with a ticket. it's a BS system i tell ya!

What V.C.'s did he cite you for? Also, did you come to a complete stop (tires making a complete stop behind the limit line)?

probably was still rolling, everyone does it to an extent, i can't remember the last time i saw a car come to a complete stop.. usually people creep unknowingly which is still safe so long as you are paying attention and why most of the time you won't get pulled over for it unless they want to use it as a reason for pulling you over.

I do the rolling stop thing too but that doesn't make it right. Most officers use that kind of C.S. ticket (chicken ****) to just make a detention and check for wants and warrants.

And I imagine the ticket he/she gave Dave for the registration is just a fix-it ticket. It just ensures that he gets it taken care of so he doesn't get pulled over again. Expired registration tags is the easiest thing to make a stop/dentention for.

i came to a COMPLETE stop, then the suv went through the intersection, THEN i proceeded.
he was shoving it in my face like what are you gonna do about it... ******* ***** with badges.

there are 2 types of laws in this country. the first type is based loosely on the 10 commandments.. don't kill, steal, etc..

the second is for the sole purpose of revenue generation. they make LOT of ******* money for the state.

if he cited you for 22450, then stopping in front of the limit line is not breaking the law, as long as you did not block the intersection. I got a ticket for failing to stop. When I questioned the officer, he mentioned I stopped, but I did it after the limit line. Guess what? case was thrown out of court.

CVC 22450(a) states: "The driver of any vehicle approaching a stop sign at the entrance to, or within, an intersection, shall stop at a limit line, if marked....If there is no limit line...the driver shall stop at the entrance to the intersecting roadway."

This law does not require a driver to stop behind the limit line but at the line. CVC 22450(a) gives no specific guidance as to where "at" the limit line specifically might be, but since it does tell the driver where to stop in the absence of a limit line ("at the entrance to the intersecting roadway") one can reasonably infer that "at" the limit line is any part of the line that does not place one's vehicle beyond the entrance to the intersection.

About your registration. He got you on a techincality, but he is right, no stickers=guilty. When I got the ticket it was a $25 or $50 fix it ticket in Glendale.

no, it was an ******* making **** up. i stopped behind the line, while the car in front of me ran the stop sign.

on the bright side, i wouldn't pop my hood for him and he didn't arrest me.

FU,

"Spirit of the law vs. Letter of the law"? If you believe that the spirit of the law should be considered before issuing a citation, there is hope for the man in uniform in you.

Dave,

I really suggest you fight this one. I sure would. I'd love to hear how you could have a rolling stop and at the same time allow the SUV to pass through the intersection. And, if you think it's your hair that is drawing undue attention, I suggest you put on a hat before you get behind the wheel.

but they make you pay the ticket first...then, if they feel like it, they refund the money.

isn't it a crime to write someone a ticket for something they didn't do?

"isn't it a crime to write someone a ticket for something they didn't do"

To play off Fu's post, in the spirit of the law it is. But signing a promise to appear (which is all a ticket is) seems to skirt short of crossing that line. And, it does happen all too often (translation - once is too often) which is simply an abuse of their authority. But, the system protects the abusers well. Especially in the City of Chino. Especially if your last name is McCombs or his puppet Bomowski.

Chino police department, where 50% of their force is made up of wanna be cops who couldn't get a job anywhere else.

My stop sign violation was a $156 bones. I got it back about 5 weeks after the not guilty verdict. But, It was over 3 months before a decision was actually reached, so you can kiss the money goodbye for quite some time.
