Sunday Morning... going to San Jose
so, i left around 2AM after the gig to head up north. had everything checked as far as emergency supplies go and a reasonable amount of clothes i'll be using for a couple days. jumped on the 110 N to the 405 N and of course, no traffic at all. by the time i got to Valencia (AKA Six Flags Area), i clocked about 50 miles. pretty awesome sight driving with the sun down w/ the moon full and what not. basically saw the moon set throughout my travel.
by the time i made my first stop at Chevron for a restroom break near Grapevine, i had 100 miles on the tripmeter with a quarter of a tank used. haha, best gas mileage yet! then again, i was driving on an average of a whopping... *drum roll please* 70 mph. ya, i know, slow, but i had to make up for the TII tranny's short final gear.
i drive a lil bit more going 5 North and end up running into mad fog status. at first, i thought, hmm, it won't be that bad... but little did i know, it was actually pretty dangerous. the visibility level was so low that i was only able to see a couple "lane dashes" ahead of the car. otherwise, i was just driving into an abyss of the unknown of thick fog. don't think that my yellow foglights did anything to help. haha
the fog was so thick that i started getting sleepy because i wasn't able to depict what was in front of me... a whole lot of the same thing... as if i was going into a portal while wondering when is this going to end?/ a good hour into the fog, i take another brake because the fog was making me really tired so i stop by another Chevron to take a leak and buy some coffee. met a dude in the mart coming from beyond south of Tijuana, traveling all the way up north to Washington (going back home to WA). and i thought i was tired... shoot. well, after our brief convo about our destinations, we wished each other the best of luck for the rest of our trips. bought myself a up of cappuccino and a coffee monster so i can stay awake... took a quick 10 min. nap in the FC while i waited for the cup of cappuccino to cool then left again.
finally, after a good 10 min. on the road, the fog ended up disappearing. to assure my arrival in SJ, i fill up at Chevron before the 152 putting $10 w/ $2.29/gal for 91 octane. prior to the fill up, the gas needle sat about halfway between the half tank mark and the quarter tank mark.
by the time i jumped on the 152 W towards Gilroy, the sun was starting to rise... i was hoping i could've taken a shot of the sunrise, but i didn't want to delay my travels any further. kicked up the speed to 80 mph just to have some fun with the turns to stay awake and took another restroom break at Casa de Fruta. i took a pic of my FC over there with the Pentax K1000 just for fun. i'll post it as soon as i develop the film.
i keep going and finally get to the Costco in Gilroy before the 101. i top off the gas tank just so i have a full tank or somewhat by the time i get to San Jose. after reviewing my gas mileage, i could've gone all the way to Gilroy with a full tank of gas w/o having to fill up if i wanted to, if that is, i theoretically drive maxing out my gas mileage to 100 miles each quarter of a tank. mind you, the S5 gas tank is a full 18 gallons, with 2 of the gallons being the reserve.
i depart from Costco at around 7 AM and jump on the 101 N and finish up my travels towards San Jose. exited Capitol Express Way to midline's house... and arrived around 8 AM, just in time for breakfast. before i went to eat, i took a couple pics with my FC and his just to start the day... alas, i knew my FC is worthy to take on long trips. good job Yoshiya @ NepTune Speed! your motor build has been good so far!
on my way up north, i listened to these following artists' albums if you guys wanna check em out.
Denver Harbor - Scenic
Akon - Freedom
Ludacris - Theater of the Mind (album was alright... i started falling asleep to it tho)
Blink 182 - Enema of the State (had to sing to something to stay awake)
E-40 - The Ball Street Journal (had to listen to this when i jumped on the 101, getting ready for the bay area. haha)
will continue to post more progress in my stay here.
i'm currently chillin here in 1 of 3 of UC Davis' libraries.
stay posted.
i'm kinda posting each reply in sections of my journey.

Sunday w/ the cousins
so, i ate breakfast and didn't really want to sleep although i knew my body was tired. i didn't want to spend my whole day KO'd and what not. decided to start the day off by paying my respects for my auntie and grandpa and grandma at the cemetery in Milpitas. hopped on the 680 N, bought some flowers and placed it by their tombstone thingy whatever. not sure if it's rude to take pics in the cemetery... but i just wanted to take a pic to show my cousin i left flowers for her mom and my dad i left his parents some flowers. again, i'll post them when the film is developed.
i go back to San Jose to chill at Irvin's pad (midline) and play a lil bit of guitar then drums on Guitar Hero. haha drums on GH or RB is soo different in comparison to real drums. haha i can only play drums for songs that i have memorized from the top of my head. lol i pretty much kicked it with the cousins the whole day until my cousin CJ left to ball it up with his friends and Irvin left to go work. =P i guess then was my chance to rest up so i took advantage of the opportunity. it was about 5 in the afternoon and set my alarm around 6 to get an hours worth of rest... i ended up waking up at 8:30 PM instead because my car was blocking my aunt's car and was pretty much forced to wake up just to move it. after that, i decided to shower up and get ready to travel again that evening.
sucks that i wasn't able to spend time with the fam bam for a couple of days, but i guess some time was better than nothing. good times man. woke up CJ by throwing that stupid Halls cough drop on his head. ahahaha
i'll be coming back up north to visit fam bam during the long weekend in February so we'll see wassup.

next stop: Davis, CA
i'm sure some of you are wondering why i'm going to NorCal or why i even bothered going here in the first place... well, real reason is to visit Mysa, my GF. i intentionally planned to visit NorCal earlier in the month, but i was booked with gigs every week so i had to delay...
(back to the story...) after showering up and saying my goodbyes to my aunt and cousins while letting the car warm up, i jump on the 680 N to make my way to Davis. map googled my drive from San Jose to Davis: ~ 1 hour and 40ish minutes or something... but instead keeping my slow pace like i did while driving on the 5, i stepped it up about 75 - 85 mph.
when i looked up the directions to Davis, it said "partial toll road" for the 680. i personally thought it'd be like the 91 near Corona with the fast trak and what not, but i guess i ended up paying $4 at the toll stop whatever it was. any NorCal-ers wanna give me the heads up on why it's a toll road? it was pretty smooth sailing... saw a lot of familiar city signs of locations of fellow west NorCal rx7club members.
as i was driving, i came across some semi beat up Subie 2.5 RS on along the 680. i guess he knew i was driving an RX-7 cuz he gave me a peace sign while i gave him a thumbs up when he passed by me. i guess just to show off, he ended up driving away from me in an erratic manner as if he wanted to race... but i guess homie wanted to play "chase" so i said "meh, why not...". i personally don't do this often if not, then not at all, but i honestly just wanted to see how fast he was going... after seeing how fast he was going, we were going a buck 10. geez, dangerous and idiotic driving, i know... at least we were only endangering our own lives since they wasn't traffic around... it was about 11 in the evening Sunday night which explains the unpopulated freeway. well, the chase ended up being about a good 10 seconds or so... don't worry, i didn't boost past 8 PSI... i had my eyes on my boost gauge the whole time. i would never go WOT. sorry, not until my wastegate has been ported. i guess to conclude my encounter, i end up backfiring by him which triggered mr. Subie to drive away fast again. i don't know if it was me... but i guess he wanted to do a freeway pull or something? he always waited for me, but i had better things to do like get to Davis safely. we ended up going separate ways as soon as i jumped on the 80 E towards Davis.
to wrap up the whole trip so far with the freeway driving, it's pretty entertaining reading exits and city names. i guess it's just cuz of the unfamiliar-ness, and being raised in LA area for 20 years, you've seen so many exits in the LA freeways... nice to see something different for a change, i suppose?
got to Mysa's apartment safely. gotta give my thanks to the One who watches over me and what not. it's nice to know that i made it to my main destination and reason i came up north... to spend some time with Mysa before i go back to school. part of it is just to see the life in UC Davis and what not too.
i end up sleeping around 1 in the morning since i arrived around 12... gosh, sucks to be sick. at least i bought Nyquil so i can sleep peacefully tonight. stupid flem and snot.
oh yea, 2 albums i listened to while on the road...
A Static Lullaby - ...And Don't Forget to Breathe
A Static Lullaby - Rattlesnake!
