Just leave it reg in AZ with a Fam members address, I have OH plates and they never bother me.. i got pulled for 85 in my FC and the cop just gave me the ticket and never said a word MY FC was stock at the time however I did pass the guy unsafely and I could have gotton a unsafe driving ticket and he could have made me pop the hood...

just be nice and polite like your mom taught you and accept the ticket like a MAN and the cop should be cool...

my FC was BRIGHT yellow and DEF looked like a ricer even when it had a stock engine......

although the catback wasn't loud it wasn't stock but still pretty quiet, so if you are loud just shut it down as SOON as you stop and if they say something say you were nervous you haven't been pulled in a while and stalled it, that works SOMETiMES not all cops will fall for it though...

However on your topic my friend just got a fix it ticket for no front license plate. So he sent the ticket back with a check just paying the ticket(bail) amount because he didn't want to deal with getting a license plate on the front (nice aftermarket front bumper). Later on he gets a ticket in the mail saying because he paid the bail forfeiture amount it is evidence that he did not fix the car, thus they are fining him another ticket for failure to fix the issue. Cost of this new ticket? $500, AFTER he already paid the hefty bail forfeiture amount for the first one. He is going to court to see if hey can fight it.

if he didnt get a cop to sign off on it stating that its fixed before he sent in the ticket with the payment, this happens. all your friend has to do for next time is get a couple of zip ties and strap it on the front bumper, then cut them off once the cop signs it.

Here is what happened. He got a front license plate ticket because his license plate WAS ZIP TIED ON. Yes, zip tied on is apparently against the law. Cop told him he needed to securely mount it. However, for whatever reason he didn't want to fix it, so he decided to just pay the bail forfeiture amount. So he sent the ticket back with the amount due and the appropriate box checked to just pay the "bail" amount and not the "written off amount" or "fix it ticket" amount. Then the rest ensued a couple weeks later.

I've definitely been thinking of doing that. I am now officially moving to SD in a few weeks and need to figure out what to do with my FD prior to move. I hear there aren't any rotary specialists in SD and I'd like to put in a downpipe & high-flow cat, preferably by my mechanic here.

If I transfer reg to CA then they will do full inspection and as it is I wonder if they'll say anything about my PFS intercooler, let alone a downpipe/hi-flow cat.

At the same time, I don't want to drive it to Tucson every year to get emissions. Wouldn't mind Yuma as that wouldn't be too long of a drive. I don't know anyone in Yuma though

Anyone have anything to add to the conversation?

Well I know you cant have a modified cat unless its CARB legal. So most hi flow cats would be illegal, a downpipe is illegal since its modifing your precat, and since you have a PFS intercooler isnt CARB legal it also is illegal. You might be able to "pass" the test but I doubt it with a visual inspection. If you want just reinstall/bring your emissions parts from AZ to CA so you can do the swap and then revert back to your previous set-up.

As for installing a precat/downpipe it should be no problem to do yourself. I did my muffler myself and have my downpipe to do once I get it powdercoated.

There is no shops that I have heard of that are for rotaries that I know of but there is a ton of shops in LA and they are pretty respected on this forum.

Sorry if I am no help : /
