can you have an moded rx7 in cali and pass smog

Ok how hard is it gonna be to have a seven in cali? I wanna bring, well im gonna bring her home after i get out of the army in 2 years.I was wondering how hard is it to get a seven to pass smog? can i have any toys or does it have to be stock? Ive read some crazy stuff guys had to do just to pass smog in other posts.

the mods im gonna be running when i get back

car is a 88 turbo 2
91 jdm turbo 2 motor
street port or bridge port
gt35 turbo or bigger
haltec e8 stand alone system with all supporting mods and upgraded coils
750 prim 1600 sec injectors
3in dp to racing beat catback i know ill have to get a cat
vmount cooler and koyo rad

plan to make 450whp

I was thinking of buying a sec motor for a back up and i guess if i have to worry about passing smog i guess i can cheat and droping that in for smog twice a year.
Have any of you heard about anyone passing cali smog test with a setup like this thanks.

bring it to Cali, If you can keep it registered out of state that would be your best bet. My car is currently registered and smogged in CA. I am actually going to have my car registered out of state soon, that way i can drive without worry.

You will not pass like that. Best bet keep it registered in Ga. If your base MAB is not strict you might get away with a base sticker and you are set. The only reason you need to "smog" it is if you are registering it in california or your base requires a smog check for your base pass.
In some cases like the army or airforce they really dont care.

Good luck

My buddie had his STi registered in NV, and got a ticket while parked in his driveway for "illegally being parked in California." haha

Be careful though, my buddy got in trouble for having Idaho plates on his car even though it was still registered and had an address there. The ****** cops tried to make him get California plates but he renewed his ID license and got insurance there and they can't do anything now. Keep a front plate, and try to blend in.

You won't pass smog with any of those mods listed besides possibly the vmount and of course the radiator.

Keep a second engine bone stock to drop in once a year if you're that committed and keep a set of stock cats to throw in too. That way your smogs are legal and you won't have to worry about some sketchy smog guys.

That is incorrect sir, I am in the military and we have a clause for how ever long we are stationed outside of our home of record. The op is a bit confused I think he believs he has to register the car here and smog but he doesnt.

OP all you have to do is "PASS SMOG" , buy california insurance and thats it. Your license can remain from home of record.

BASE STICKER IS ALL YOU NEED! So dont beat yourself up over registration in this state.

no, none of the mods you have listed would come anywhere near passing visual, cept for the vmic, but even then most techs would be like........"im not doing it"
are you talking about working at a smog shop in cali or ga?
getting a smog license if fun, i got it first try, but then again, i paid 38g for my schooling................
its all about who you know and who you blow
