California Oil

What kind of oil do you guys use for your FDs? I'm about to go get my car tuned and I'm trying to decide what oil I should be using. Currently I have 10-30 standard in it not synthetic as I'm still breaking in the motor. I'm getting my last oil change next week and want to know what to switch to.

20w-50 idemitsu.....also, if you are tuning for more fuel/horsepower, it's a good idea to get some idemitsu premix oil and add 1/2 oz. per gallon when you fill up at the pump. our motor was built by mazdatrix and this is what they recommend.

Its only a RX-7 which will blow sooner or later. . Its best to buy the cheapest oil (Costo or WalMart) and save the pennies for a new motor.

For the idemitsu 20w50 oil, where can I find it to order. Also, how many quarts does a usual oil change takes for the FD? 5-6 quarts?

I think I'm going to have to go with a more "name brand" oil for my tune because I don't want to order and not have them come in time for the oil change I need to get done for my tune.

I will start using Idemitsu oil after my tune for my next oil changes.

As far as premix goes, I already premix a .5oz/1gal ratio. When it goes on the dyno, I'm going to be using a 1oz/1gal ratio.

Also, for those who are local (Bay Area) do you know where I can pickup an OEM fuel filter for an FD?

lol that brings to mind, would it be better to buy expensive oil and change it every 5-7k ( i know some of you guys prob hold off even more!) or simply get the normal stuff and change it every 3k. I do the latter. IMO its only going to be in the car a whole short minute why buy premium stuff?

Nothing wrong with synthetic in a rotary. Just don't put it in an air cooled boxster motor.

Nothing wrong with FULL synthetic. Synthetic blends shouldn't be used.

Castrol GTX 20-50 is the official oil of the 7club West.

Yeah I know some synthetics aren't bad at all. But not all synthetics are good.

Only safe option for synthetic is idemitsu. I know my brother runs elf and he tracks his car, looking good so far.
