Can somebody please point me towards a shop or individual who does quality air conditioning work in the Pasadena area? I have the tools needed to refill with ES-12a but I think I'm going to have to have a professional find the source of the refrigerant leak in my FD. Also the car is pretty modified so they'd have to be friendly to that.

 

You could try taking it to this shop called Genesis Auto. It's on Walnut ave. just across the street from the Honda dealership. They may or may not take it depending on how modified it is because they mainly work on OE vehicles, but who knows the way this economy is they might. Talk to either Norton or Lito (a couple of older asian guys, they're cool). Tell them Al sent you.
What is ES-12a? I take it you're referring to R-12 refrigerant/freon. Also, why not have it retrofitted to R-134 as the refrigerant is cheaper.

Thanks for the reply, I may check them out. ES-12 is a hydrocarbon R12 replacement, there is a thread about it in the 3rd gen section. It's a lot more effective than R134 and it's reasonably cheap too.

 

Yeah, no prob. I'm gonna have to read-up on that when the a/c on my FD ever fails, but knock-on wood though- so far so good. Thanks for the heads-up.

 

A plan B, I take my cars exclusively to Walnut Auto Air in Walnut. Owners name is Woody. Near Valley and Fairway. Not Pasadena, but at least one more alternative for you.

 

Bit of a hike but definitely appreciated, I was looking for a shop that specializes in A/C.

 

Auto A/C is all they do.

They can put together most anything AC for cars.
