A BIG-*** tree fell on my FD tonight!
As you guys all know up here in the Bay Area, we are having some shitty weather - Big-time storm happening here
I was in front of 1441 on Portola near Vicente around 6PM tonight and a big-*** tree actually fell on my FD! I was sitting there waiting for the light to turn green when half of tree fell over and just covered my entire car. The tree blocked an entire lane and was big enough to cover the roof, hood, windshield and hatchback. I couldn't believe it. I couldn't even see out the wind sheild.
Here's the wierd thing. It came down fast but softly, there wasn't a big crash with a lot of damage. It sounded like a bunch of small branches and leaves landed on my car. But from out side the car it looked like my car could've been crushed!
Some guy behind me ran over and thought I got hurt. From behind, all you could see was my taillights under a mass of branches and leaves. The tree was huge. I got out and it looked like the tree split down the middle and half landed on my car.
I was able to slowly drive my car forward out from underneath the tree. I figued that my car was fucked. It wasn't I don't think my car is damaged much. Maybe some scratches on the paint. But, I think I got really lucky. If I had been driving up the street it, instead of being stopped, it would've been much worse. The branches seemed to support the weight of the tree instead of smashing my car.
I'll have to look closer at my paint job tomorrow. I'll be taking pics and filing a claim with my insurance. Maybe they will repaint my car again...

the tree landed in front of me, almost hitting my car. I thought was tripping when i saw a pair of FD lights sticking out a bit. - I was in the FC.

^ That's too funny. When it happened, I couldn't help but laugh. It was bizarre.
I think I dodged the bullet here. I looked at my car in the day light this morning. The roof just above the passenger side window has a slight indention between the sunroof and the window. I didn't even see any scratches. I'm sure there are. I'll see when I wash and dry the car.
I may not be making a claim to the insurance co. There may not be enough damange to top my $500 deductible.

See if the body shop wouldn't mind taking some pics and emailing them to you for insurance purposes. They should have a good camera.

Was the tree on a public property or private? If it was private property, I wonder if you can file a claim against the "owner" of the tree. Have the persons home insurance pay for the damage.
Maybe it's not possible though, oh well.

Im positive is most likely public property, because the tree was originally on grown on the sidewalk. But who knows is St. Francis Woods, those rich people probably even own the sidewwalk. lol -note i saw the the tree falling right in front of me, so yea. I thought i was tripping when i saw a pair of FD taillights comming out from a tree.
