I've been wanting to do this also. I'm just too broke to buy tires and all that stuff. But I'm down to come hang out and check it out so I can get a general idea of what I need to do to my car.

Rear should be no issue for just about any 17" wheels. Fr500 17x9 front will be close and might force you to run a spacer. (I've got a guy who will build you a pair of spacers in any thickness for any hubcentricity for about $60.)

Sounds like we might have a full on crew for sometime near thanksgiving (not the weekend of naturally). Should make for a good cheering/heckling squad.

one set of front tires should last you a good long time. the rear tires are the ones that go out rather quickly....

Uh oh, I went gone and done it now...

Q: How do you fit 8 tires in an FC?
A: 2 in shotgun, 1 just behind the seats, 3 lashed together with the hatch open, and 2 on the roof.

Mustang wheels -- check. Picked them up from a pretty cool kat as well (he and his brother have one of the more beautiful FBs I've seen recently).

Wow is that recently and did you REALLY strap those to the roof of your FC???

HAHA If you go to an event and I go, let me know so I can load up in my truck and we can roll together

I learned to drift years ago on my local mountain/canyon roads in my old mustang; its the only way to drift, and the only place where drifting is actually cool.

That's hot off the presses baby. Pic was taken last night. 4 beat upon 98 mustang GT 17x8+30 wheels w/ crap tires, plus 4 bonus tires that are in great shape and have ~75% life... Out the door for $150 for everything.

For the record I did have a towel under the roof tires and a 10,000 lb strap wrapped around about them about three ways. I had it lashed through the windows and Duke of Hazarded my way in and out the window. I will admit I wasn't quite ballsy enough to drive it on the freeway like this. I ended up taking surface streets all the way from near Dodger stadium back to Pasadena.

Oh and if you think that's funny wait till you seem my 100% authentic RE-Amemiya wing supports with a 2x4 up there in place of the wing so I can strap my surfboard in place (can't get the straps far enough apart otherwise due to the short roofline...)

No thanks. I'd rather keep my car in one piece and myself out of jail. Coolness is debatable but it's tough to argue with the fact it requires substantial skill and teaches folks some significant things about throttle control (which is the part I'm looking for).

Ready to go spin them pony wheels with your GM motor huh? In an import? Damn you have all sorts of stuff going on in your car haha

The most I carried in my fc was 5 pairs=10 wheels
Id have 3 behind the seats, 5 in the trunk and 2 in the passenger seat. My rear hatch is wide open , I used tie downs to make sure wheels dont fly out..

Should be building it this week.

Yep. Couple wheels had minor lip bends and one has an actual portion of the lip missing (hence the welding I mentioned). Still I'm not complaining because for the purpose they should be awesome. Just hoping the old set of tires doesn't delam instantly when I put some heat into them.

You forgot my Volvo fan and Nissan brakes. At last count I had pieces from 15 different cars. I love the fact this car is kind of a blend of traditional hot rodding with a modern twist to it. I'm quite serious about the fact I want to retrofit anti-lock brakes someday (but not from an FC, those can't hold a candle to modern stuff).

I might be able to stop by at Halloween but it's unlikely the car will be ready.

So my car is pretty damn close to ready...

-New clutch broken in: check
-Brakes: check
-Accusump: check
-Spare wheels/tires: check
-Almost done with the new swaybar setup...

Who wants to come drifting? Daniel, you feel like coming out of retirement to coach for a bit?
