AZ Emissions?

Just a quick emissions-related question. Does anyone know if they do emissions testing in Phoenix, AZ?

Yes they do. And....there is an emissions expert from Arizona in your region. His name is J-Rat. Go to the SEARCH engine at the top of the page and put in J-Rat. PM him endlessly til he responds.

Yes they do. It's basically the same as California except they only check for a few things on the visual inspection. Basically I think they look for EGR, gas cap test, and tailpipe emissions, but don't quote me on that. Once you get outside of Maricopa County emissions is not required.

ACV,Airpump, and a cat at a minimum for visual. They can't really check for an EGR since it's under the manifold. If they complain state you have a S5 engine in there(no egr on them )

They do Dyno tests so there's no way to fool it other than running alcohol.

Close Tim,

For the FC, they will do the following:

1. Pressure test the gas cap

2. Verify exhaust for Catylitic converter. Now here in AZ, you only need ONE cat, and it does NOT have to be stock. This is good for the N/A guys because the can run headers.

3. Verify presence of ACV/Airpump/Split/port air tube, and of course, an air pump. If you have an aftermarket intake, you MUST place a filter on the intake tube of the air pump or they wont pass you (dont ask me why).

4. Charchol canister.

5. Idle/Roller test. Roller test is approx 35 MPH, second gear.

6. EGR. This is sort of speculative, because I passed last year without my EGR. So who knows..
