Autobacs and RRR Meet.

Autobacs is a place to go to get ideas and find out what is available. The only thing I would buy from there are air fresheners for my girlfriend. Everything else is overpriced or at MSRP.
As far as tires go, you're better off going to Costco because of the warranty, free tire rotations, and free fix a flats.
(FYI America's Tire next to the mall off Azusa will fix a flat for free, regardless if you have purchased from them or not.)

I checked with them early on. They aren't carrying any 13" tires currently in-store, and their online service won't let you shop by size. it only works based on make/model/year, and only goes back to 1989.

Sounds like your running the stock wheels on your 1st Gen. Also, since your a stock wheel guy, sounds like it's time for you to upgrade to '83 LE wheels since you're discovering the difficulty of finding 13's these days. The LE wheels are the first generation of the stock Vert BBS wheel and in mine, and most other wankle head, opinion are the best looking stock wheel that ever came on a 1st Gen. I've got a set if you want to see what they look like.

I appreciate the offer, and would love to see them - - but it's gonna be a few months minimum before I'm up for new wheels (xmas plus car work plus other projects = pretty empty 'toy account' just now.)
Only reason I'm even shopping tires at this point is that with a date code of 313 on the existing ones (made in 1993), I just don't trust them much any more. They are still in good shape treadwise, but they are old, hard, and are showing some fine sidewall surface cracking that I don't like. I would be unhappy running them for extended times in freeway traffic, or on the twisty roads with the high dropoffs.
Tires I can justify as a safety issue. Wheels + tires, probably not so much at this point.
abec: The Sumi HTR 200's are exactly what I'm looking for... was really interested in the Cooper Cobra GT's at one point, because the RWL look is perfect for the car, but a number of people have said that they are poor performers (though they probably compare to my Rikens pretty well) and they are hard to find anyway.
I can get Sumi's for $50 each thru Tire Rack, which means with shipping and install probably just under $300 by the time they are on the car. I was hoping to find someone local who stocks them at a fair price.

Nice meeting some of you last night; sorry I couldn't stick long. Won't be the last time, though. Wind made the trip interesting, as I've got some issues to resolve with the steering gearbox.
Some sick lookin rides y'all have got there.
