I've called 911, but that ultimately was useless, as they referred me to CHP.
When I called CHP, nothing happend as no officer showed up at all after I followed the individual (for miles!!!)

so i went and shot guns with him, and 2 other cops about a week later. (it was so badass.. got to shoot a machine gun, shotgun, and everything.)
i dont really know why he volunteered to do this, but i think it was his way of saying thank you.

You can also be the ticket issuer if the vehicle code violation is a misdemeanor. Meaning if you are a witness to a moving viloation that is a misdemeanor in your State and you follow the person and contact the police. They will show up and issue the citation and you will sign it as the issuer. You will have to show up in court along with the officer.

I've wondered this for a long time.....what happens when you get pulled over on a highway by CHP, they tell you to pop the hood and give you a ticket to go to a ref station because of modified crap? I hear you can just go to court and pay a hefty fine like 5-600 bucks and get out of the ref ticket and not have to fix anything. My question is if that is true and you do pay it off, what happens let's say if you get pulled over again by CHP the next day? Are you exempt from getting a ref ticket by him because you just got one and paid it off? Thanks.

well heres my .2 cents
Fumanchu well i have heard some crazy stories and gossip from friends that i have met while i am stationed here in california. Mostly about getting pulled over and getting your car searched. In florida they dont do that, hell at all if anything all will do is give you a ticket for loud exhaust. You will have to worry about mainly the loud music getting you a ticket.
I have been building my car for a couple of months we are looking at some good numbers on the hp side. An i am afraid of driving it on the streets because getting pulled because my car looks like its modified. So i am shipping it back home as soon as i get it tuned for a break in its gone.
My question is if i drive normal obey the posted driving laws. Can a cop actually pull me over just because my car looks like its modified?
Wouldnt that be discrimination or no?
I was just wondering , no hating or picking your brain...i understand why you guys do what you do, but even for a person who does not street race and goes to tracks only, obeys the laws(on the street) and keeps a low profile...does it mean he has to be classified as a street racer because the car he has.
What about these muscle cars we see on the streets...they can have headers and other mods like non street legal carbs and hp numbers ranging between 400-700 on th streets. And they dont get even harrased. Is it discrimination or no.
Oh sorry if i dont make sense -Alex

The reason I ask, is what if a cop is trailing a vehicle EXTREMELY close (within reason that if a normal person was doing this, a ticket would be issued for following too closely)? This video footage would show that the police officer was "possibly" harrassing an individual. (Again, I do not see a problem w/ video footage in this case, but thought I would ask).

first of all.. if they pull you over, you have the right to know what its for, so ask the cop. second they dont have the right to search your car unless they have a search warrant, or probable cause you have a weapon, drugs or paraphernalia.
so unless you are an idiot and tell the cop you have a ounce of coke in the car, or have white powder on the seat, or a bullet laying on the carpet, they cant legally search your car. Unless of course you give them permission.

^^^ what my friend Dave aka guitarjunkie got pulled one night with us and he got asked to open his hood...sneaky Dave told him his latch was broke and he could get to the engine bay and the cop only pulled him for rolling a stop sign.

i was stating that because this section does not apply strictly to california. it applies to multiple states, in which there might me one that driving between cars on a motorcycle is against the law. (did you even open your mind to that posibility?)
on the video camera in the car subject..
the cop has no legal justification to make you turn off the video. IF it had been me in that situation i would have said, you turn off your video camera, and i will turn mine off.

Do you see Utah in that? Or has Utah moved to the WEST?

You have a Florida licence plate and a military ID right? You should be fine, when I was stationed up there I had plenty of friends with modified cars, including things like tint in the windshield. Some would get pulled over for it, and when they put the (other tha CA) state plate together with a military ID they would be let go.
When I was platoon Sgt we did have a kid who was big into street racing. He was consistently doing stupid things (caught by SDPD street racing), at one point we did vehicle saftey inspections, and since any car that gets a base sticker for pendleton, with an out of state plate is supposed to get smogged before hand, I scraped off his sticker, and ordered him not to drive on base till it was replaced.
After he was caught twice driving on base he got busted down.

****** 'A Dom. I woke up and am already 20 questions down. Give me a break guys, I have a day off today but don't want to sit here all day though.
Also, if you are not in California, quit posting questions. I have absolutely no idea about any other state.
