what kind of car do you have?

'93 Touring with a C-West body kit. Its an auto but that's changing to a 5-speed in a couple weeks, also throwing in a Haltech E6K. :) I'll check back with this thread and if I'm free for the meet I'll try to make it.

WELCOME!!!! its nice to see people enthusiastic about meeting other IE rotor heads! keep up on this post to see when exactly the next post is. also like i tell everyone else, if you are interested in a more then once a month meet, we try to go on drives about overy other week or so. (but nothing as big as out once a moth meet) if you are interested, send me a PM and we can set somthing up.

anyways, talk to you later.

P.S. nopiston_racer and mazpower, i take the 62 out to Joshua Tree every once in a while for work. i know what twisties you are talkin about!!! i would LOVE to race up and down that one big steep hill some day, it would be a really cool (and dangerous) top speed test. (downhill) (i am talking about the big hill leading up to Yucca Valley.

ok later!

Hehe...yep those are the shiznit...Kevin will be going to that one with his SR-powered 240 so it should be interesting...

SpeedDemon32, the 62 is a fun road, definately high-speed. But too short for my tastes. I prefer the 243 through Idyllwild, then back down the 74 into Palm Desert. The 74 is an AWESOME road and is a combo of high speed turns and long sweepers. The other nice thing is that the 74, between Idyllwild and the Anza highway, is pretty straight and mellow, a good stretch to let the car cool off a bit before pounding it on the downhill. :) However 10 pm is too early for me. I'm not a crazy ass driver but I prefer that there's as minimal traffic as possible just in case. Not to mention I've only had the FD for 2 months now, still trying to get used to the different setup. I also have a '92 Miata with a Greddy turbo, suspension, etc, and the RX feels more similar to that than my old RX, an '87 half-bridge'd TII with 400 to the wheels. I traded that one off to get my FD.

Hey guys, seems like there are a lot of locals coming out of the woodwork. That's good. However, more people is also more potential for things to get out of hand. Last thing you need is a multiple-car collision out in the middle of nowhere. Trust me on this one, the Subaru club once had an Arrowhead run go amiss when some new guy swung wide and hit a car in the next lane. Nobody even had a fire extinguisher, it was a mess.

I don't mean to sound like anyone's grandpa, but I just want to remind everyone to be safe in the canyons. Keep a safe following distance (ahem, Casey, you would've hit me if I had spun...) and don't drive near the limit (of the car or driver) on public roads. Unless you can see around the next 2 corners, and you know for sure that the surface is clean, don't drive even 9/10ths on the street.

There's an autocross this weekend at California Speedway in Fontana, if any of you are interested in doing some real racing. The practice on Saturday is already full, but the championship on Sunday should have some room for newcomers. www.solo2.com

Unfortunately I've got work this weekend, so I'll see everyone in January.

Yes i would have, but i also know that you are a good driver, and that neither one of us were pusing it hard. had you really opened her up, i would have added MUCH more room for error.

come on, you should know me better then that. besides i only got on your @$$ once, and that was on purpouse. (real close)

scotty305 12-02-04 09:35 PM

... or maybe your tires are just too small? For the amount of power you're making, I'd guess you should be running 285's at least to put that to the ground.

It could be your suspension settings also. I would guess your shocks are a bit too hard in the rear, and the swaybar also.

vipers 12-02-04 09:51 PM

lol......i will only follow 2 people pretty close....... and thats speeddemon and scotty305, just because i know thier driving skill....... but i never try to get to close for comfort!!! i agree with scotty about the more people. the more risk...... but i feel no matter how may people are there, there are always risks!! i think the more the marrier...... ive always wanted to roll down the street (or freeway)like 20-30 cars deep!! that would be outrageous!! i dont think any of us (except one of us) really pushed our cars on that last run.... that was a conservative paced run, but was still hella fun! we dont need to go crazy speeds to have a good time!! i think having scotty up front was fine, he set a good pace and didnt go crazy! speeddemon would do the same thing!! its all about being in front and behind someone you trust!!

oh, and the meetup for the run usually starts at around 10pm... we dont usually hit the canyons until 11-11:30... and they are plenty empty!

The FC was my baby, I had that car for almost 4 years and transformed it from an ugly, tired stocker to a monster that could outrun Evos on the Streets of Willow with only 8 psi of boost and the stock Top Mount...at least until heat soak kicked in hehe. :) It was an awesome machine. My FD came exactly as you see it so I can't take credit for its appearance, but I've already put my mark on it by rebuilding the engine (not by choice unfortunately) and soon by swapping the tranny & installing the Haltech.

This weekend I'll be cruising out to Moorpark to work on a drift FC so I'm gonna have to pass on the mountain run. But I'll certainly be available for others so keep me posted. :)
