Are any Rotary shops or Performance shops hiring? I want a job!
Are any performance shops/ Rotary shops hiring in so-cal??? I want a job!!!
I thought i might try this out, but its a long shot...
I am looking for a job at some sort of rotary shop or performance shop in so-cal. I have no documented experience but i have pulled my FD's motor a few times. I have a thirst for learning and a passion for cars!!! I want to make this a starting point for a possible career... I am 19 and am starting my 2nd year of college. I was running track and field but an injury is keeping me from competing again
I now have time for a job and are looking for some kind of performance shop that is willing to teach and hire me...
I am willing to work for free for a period of time to show my dedication/ work ethic! I am willing to do anything to get my foot in the door and learn!!!

best of luck.
most rotary shops are hurting these days and downsizing, not upsizing and want experienced techs. teaching takes time and at the possible expense of you walking away after they invest all their time into teaching you.
your best bet is going and finding a job at a jiffy lube somewhere and start there. no i'm not joking either, i started out changing oil when i was 15 and worked my way up from there, otherwise you will need some sort of tech college experience to get hired on as a real tech(i'd still start you out as a parts cleaner and lube tech personally because most tech colleges are a joke for hands on experience unless it is a specialized institute and i know of zero for rotary specialty institutes). starting with literally no experience will start you out changing oil or sweeping floors and possibly if you're lucky, cleaning parts(know how much it costs to replace a rotor if you drop it? more than your daily pay, a whole paycheck if it's a new rotor).
RX7s are diminishing and RX8s are still under factory or extended warranties, meaning until there is a boom in the RX8 aftermarket repairs, there is less and less work for all of us each year.
in the end, after you see that all the repair shops have gone flat rate and you get sick and tired of coming home dripping in blood for a full days pay you will realize it isn't worth it anyways.
only larger shops may be looking for entry level shop monkeys like mazdatrix or racing beat. they're the only ones that maintain because they have a large suplly of aftermarket parts and services that some smaller shops do not have.
