I just got a new ecu and a new omp to get rid of limp mode
but when i put the ecu in
i can't get my car to start
it tries and tries but just can't get there
i give it some gas and it's on but won't hold idle

Pull the EGI fuse. Crank it 4-5 times. Put it back in. If it still doesn't start... Pull the spark plugs and clean them off with a wire brush. Spray brake clean on them. Throw them back in. If it still doesn't start, junk it.

You know I was thinking the same thing. the old ECU is on limp mode and when we put in the one I had, it had a hard start-up and when we managed to get it on, it sounded like the timing was off and it was super rich.
I thought about it last night and realized my TII ecu did the same thing. I put it in after my rebuild and it sounded aweful then after a while it cleared up
