1/2 Mile Airstrip Event, Some Fast RX7's wanted!
Hey guys, this is a new event, im not involved, but i am participating and wanted to personally go against a variety of cars and would love to personally do some runs against some really fast rx7's. Hope some of you guys with 500rwhp and up are down to join us for some healthy, legal competition!

interested in the results! they did a 1/2 mile run at an airstrip here in PR past October, same thing, no spectators only participants but there was zero rotary representation! I'm trying to get invited to the next one this year to run my soon-to-be-single FD

I'm curious about what kind of speeds people will be getting in a 1/2 mile. I think gearing will make a big difference in how fast you'll be at the end, since you'll def have to shift past 4th (or even into 6th if you have a t56 or some other trans). So for this event, is the winner the guy with the higher speed or the guy who crosses the finish line first? Sounds like they will be running 2 cars at a time, classic drag race style. HP definitely rules the longer the course is.

i got about 400 to my wheels, but damn there will be alot of 1000 hp cars there, are they gonna do runs in classes or is it just line up. kinda far, but not that far, interested in attending.

Yes, two cars running side by side. Most will be starting are around 40-60mph. You will be allowed to start from a dig as well if both cars agree. I personally plan on hitting about 180mph by the end of the 1/2 mile, starting at around 50mph....
The winner is the guy that passes the finish line first, so traction plays a huge factor.
Hey, that's not really a RX7 anymore!
They will be splitting cars into two groups. Fast and super fast. Within those two groups, you can run whomever you desire. They aren't going to line you up against a 1000rwhp Vette, that would be pointless.

I would love to go and watch.. sounds like that's not gonna happen though. What car are you driving? And give us some details man. Make/model/year, mods, weight, wheel hp/tq, etc. Pics? Any 1/4 mi passes? 180 mph in a 1/2 mile means you are making retarded power/weight ratio. IIRC a stock ZR1 vette will run a whole mile in about that speed IIRC (dont' quote me on that!).
Judging by your login name I'm guessing it's a BMW M3

Here's one guy with an 2010 ZR1 guess it's stock. 180 mph in standing mile. Not a 50 mph rolling start...

You must be packing some serious heat to run that in a 1/2 mile bro. Please take some vids
