That pic was on our way to Japan from US West Coast, quite a few years ago (EA-6B's all gone now). Thanks to the USAF for the tanker support!

Congrats on your upcoming retirement, and thanks for serving.

@PJPilot & @toyzforme,

Navy & Air Force Veteran banners added to your respective profiles. Thank you both for serving in the US Navy & US Air Force!

PJPilot, what airplane were you flying in the photo - EA-6B Prowler? Thanks for sharing the photo too.

Toyzforme, I also added a 5yr tenure badge to your profile. It should automatically update for the next one (10 yrs).

I was flight crew on the KC10s out of McGuire AFB in NJ back in 96-97. It is a great plane

toyzforme,

That's pretty cool! The closest I got to McGuire was driving thru Exit 7 on the Turnpike. Been to Earle "Main Side" a few times too. Now it's Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (been like that for a several years now).

Yes, EA-6B Prowler, and before that I flew the A-6E Intruder. Both of them now only seen in museums or up on sticks at the front gate of the air station. 😢

PJPilot,

That's cool you flew both Intruders and Prowlers. I know what you mean - I used to fix gear from A-4s, F-14s, and F/A-18A/B/C/Ds. As you say, each are either on a stick or in a museum now. I've also been on a few carriers that are decommed or turned into razor blades.

US Navy retired here. Enlisted on the flight deck, (blue shirt), and then pilot for the remainder of my time. E-2's then T-45's for most of my time. I finished out my career helping found NavalX and the Tech Bridges for the Navy - fun time!
Just retired in Feb of this year, nearly 30 years.

NavalX facility in Alexandria

Great day Case 1 recovery!

Please add US Navy banner

Hello! Request if you can please put a Veteran banner for US Navy for me? I had just recently retired after 21 years. Below is a pic of the day I received my Anchors and right next to my RX-7, how convenient! lmao. Thanks!

Making another call out to RX7Club members who have prior service. Would you like to have a veteran banner added to your profile? Please post below with your username and branch of service. Refer to Post #1 for examples of the banner.

@sellinger, Congratulations on your upcoming reenlistment. Will you do something unique for the reenlistment ceremony?

The Army veteran banner was added to your profile. That Green and Gold look good under your 5yr Rotor badge.

Thank you for standing the watch and be safe out there!

Being air assault, I’ve debated doing it mid rappel with the CO. A buddy of mine also recommended doing it inside the gas chamber to make everyone’s life hell so we’ll see haha.

Thank you as well

Mid rappel would be cool, but in the gas chamber would be better just for being a dick haha.

I did one on top of a C-130 in 2006 and the last one in 2012 between the blast doors at Cheyenne Mountain. And the Navy folks that work in Cheyenne mountain do theirs on a dinghy on the water reservoir in the mountain, which I think is hilarious.

Can I ask where the new little icons have been sourced from? I would like to at least redo the Marines one as that is not quite sitting well.

@Railgun, it's been a while since I last logged in. I am surprised to see this change to our veteran banners. I made the original banners in 2019. Not sure why it changed. However, I will research it.

@Railgun, et al,

Please give your feedback on these new veteran hex badges. Railgun, your feedback was already noted. The change to this new hex badge spans across the entire IB spectrum of forums. I am still exploring options for these badges.

Surely from a design perspective that's individually controlled per forum. Did some creative control get removed here?

Railgun, you are rather perceptive. It appears that individual control was overridden.
...and don't call me "Surely."
