What V8 would you stick in your rx7?

I like Honda engines (though they're not for me particularly) and my Impreza's boxer 4 is a great engine (nice torque and >35 mpg highway is excellent). Mercedes, BMW, etc. all have some great powerplants, though they are often complicated for the sheer sake of being complicated.
Perhaps I'm a rough, redneck individual, but I will happily take a simple, efficient and effective OHV V8 with a nice cam that can still irk out ~30 mpg highway.
As I said, I've nothing against BMW, and would drive a 540 any day of the week, it's simply not my preferred method of performance motivation. There are plenty of points of merit for Honda or any other engine in that "breed" without having to fall to the weak "HP/L" discussions.
Oh, and to answer the post, I'd prefer an LSx blocked LS9 engine. 6.2L, 620 HP. Wait, that's 100 HP/L.

100 HP/L only works on small, high strung motors. Honda and other "zing" motors don't scale well into larger HP/size area without sacrificing reliability. I'll never understand the HP/L argument. HP/Lbs is an excellent benchmark, as is HP/mpg, though neither is particularly useful without a reliability litmus as well.

Nono, I was making fun of how a lot of Honda ricers say, my engine makes "100 hp/L, it's a superior engine than yours!"
still, 6.2L for 518 hp and 465 ft-lbs aint nothing to mess with.......esepcially since it's NA.
What's it your rotary and what type of race? I bet I could make it interesting.

If money were not an issue I'd go with a hayabusa v8. I forget the name of the company that makes it but they basically take two hayabusa motors (its from a motorcycle for those who dont know) and they build a crankcase to join them together.
