I think that rednecks should stick to their american P.O.S cars and let the real drivers keep their rotaries......that's just MO though.
If you're going to do it, use an LS1 engine in it, I can get one right now with wiring and tranny (6-speed) for 6K

Go to the engine conversion section of the forums - you'll get much better responses there.

Okokok... I've been on lots of car forums and this is the MOST immature one I have ever seen.

Anyway. Go to torquecentral.com's rx7-v8 forum you'll get dozens of answers that pertain to your question, not lots of people telling you not to do it.

There is not ONE thing bad about putting a v8 in your car.

same handling
*mabey* 150 lbs heavier if you dont get an ls1 (aluminum camaro/corvette engine)
11-low 12's with just an engine swap.

500hp in and afternoon with an ls1 with just h/c, lt's, intake (all bolt on)

Probably will cost you around 6k for a 50k miles engine/tranny. 300 for the mounts. then radiator, fuel, CAI, etc

Probably gonna run you around 8 grand.

check out granny's speed shop and hinsons supercars

nissan VG engine swap
2.3 ford Turbo engine swap <my choice. goal: 700 bhp on 100 octane race gas. (for 5k total)
ford small block
chevy small block
chevy lsx engines
mopar small block
chevy v6 (40mpg reliable)

Dude, if thats what you would like to do, then go for it! I'd like to see how that would work out. Wether or not it improves the way the car handles is no problem. It is different, so it is cool, and it would be your car, so nobody could tell you any smack about doing it.

My coworker has a 68 Shelby GT500 that he is pulling the motor out of. He is selling the rolling chassis for $15000. Car was taken down to bare metal, and extensively repaired(rust holes and such) and repainted. Needs to be finished. He lost interest and now has a Pantera.

Go get your 20B.

That would be cool too. I think people have already put 13B's in Miata's haven't they?

Later,
Bill

I think that the 3fast3furious car was a awsome.

It seems like when you get that far into a custom project though, you might as well go tube chassis.

Mazda did. Well a renesis. But I'm sure there are plenty o people who've done it cause the miata would benefit the most from a rotary. If you're going to add a v8 please do the ls/lt1 swap because it won't **** up your handling like most heavier v8's.

for the FC there's grannys or hinson, hinson is only LSx. granny's makes kits for almost any combo. they both do the job well. I went with grannys for my ls1 swap and i'm happy with it so far... it's still not complete, but very close.

I looked at the v8 swap faq's on this board but it was very much incomplete. I'm curious, for say an FC how difficult some swaps are compared to others. Be it FI 5.0, LT1 or LS1.

wow, I have always had respect for those engines and knew that they were capable but 700hp for $5,000~ ? Have any more details or a link to such a setup to feed my curiousity?

That looks like the normal position for Hinson/Granny's mounts to me, or VERY close.

yeah, that's about how far back most conversions are.

the leading edge of my Ford 302 heads was at the strut towers...

And I could reach all the bellhousing bolts from the top, without having modded the firewall.

That's the reason that not even iron SBCs mes up the balance of the car...
