FL LSX 3rd gen swap guide available?

I've been missing my 7 since the day I sold it I'm entertaining the idea of picking up a 3rd gen roller, and doing a LSX roller most likely a LS3 from the 2004-2005 GTO. I'm curious if anyone has suggestions before I get into this.

I'm in no rush as I am still looking for the right roller. I also plan on slapping LS6 heads, and a nice cam into the engine before dropping it in.

Thanks everyone,

Robert

My suggestion would be to read build threads people have posted on here and on www.norotors.com...

I suggest you look at buying a completed swap. There are some great cars for sale, and it will most likely save you money and headaches in the long run. Spend some time on norotors.com, and learn everything you can. Also, spend some time researching LS motors on LStech.com or similar. LS motors have had a ton of information on what works, so you are not fumbling around in the dark on what modifications suit your needs.

Good luck on your search.

you need to slow down, 04 gto had an ls1 05/06 had an ls2. ls6 heads wont help the ls2. Go spend some time on ls1 tech researching ls motors.

Any swap kit will get the motor phiscally in the hole. samberg makes a nice intake radiator combo. psi harnesses make integration dam simple. beyond that the sky is the limit

I say figure out a few things first

how much are you planning on spending?
how much are you willing on spending?
how soon do you want your car on the road?
how "clean" of a car do you want?
what kind of setup are you looking for? (daily driver? drag? auto-X? etc)
boost?
hp goals? (ever been in an FD with the same power and delivery?)

answering some of those questions will help steer you in the right direction

This gentleman is correct. LS6 and LS2 both use 243 heads.

This is exactly what I'm doing right now. I'm also using the LS2

pez is backlogged, psi is all new wire and connectors scratch built. psi 3 wire hookup with fuseblock included to run and a guide saying what flying lead wires are left for gauges.

oops, I apologize. I wasn't aware of PSI and thought it was a typo. On the other hand, I did order the PEZ harness. Hopefully I'll have it by spring....lol

True the ls2 ls6 heads are the same but the ls2 block is stronger with corrections that GM made in the block. and I believe it is a 6.0 liter. over the 5.7.

any after market heads will make much better flow numbers than the gm heads. With the exception of ls7 heads. but that requires a 4.125 bore to use them.
