Do any of you have a guide for swapping a Rotary for another engine. Like an Ls1 or maybe a V6

I heard its not that hard to do if you just have all the right tools.

Also. Maybe a guide on rebuilding an engine if it is possible to do in the garage??

alchemist007,

For a guide, go to amazon.com and then search for the book entitled:

Build Your Own V8 RX-7

The author is Brian Smith (with contributors Greg Jones and Graham Hollins).

Alternatively, you could find the book by searching within the Amazon.com website on the author's name: Brian Smith

The book appears to be less than $40.00 from Amazon. You can try this shortened link for the Amazon page for this book:

Good luck.

I'm trying not to be an ***, But if you need to ask " if it is possible to do in the garage??" you are NOT ready for an engine rebuild or a swap. You need to start smaller, if you have a FC or FD replace all the vacuum lines with out removing the rats nest. I promise you on an FD especially will give you a good feel for how much work is involved in heavy repair and how easy overlooking one thing will turn into hell. Replace some water pumps etc, then when you are ready to do the swap get a strong running block with a points dizzy and a carb. After all that is in and running, swap heads, then cam and now you have done... in small steps everything you need to give you the knowledge how to do stuff like use plastigauge, shim a bearing, set the valves and trouble shoot all the small things that went wrong along the way. A LOT of v8 swaps never get done. With a LS engine there is a lot of time to get, build, install the engine / tranny, install ecu, splice / make an engine harness and find all the bugs.
And I have rebuilt an engine in my living room watching movies

The book sucks, save your money, and if you go to V8Rx7forum.com dont voice your opinions or the **** owner will boot you off.

Where is a good reputable place to have my LS1 ECU shipped to and have it tuned to run effieciently in my 86' FC swap that I'm doing with my stock differential and gears? Also this maybe an ignorant question but other than the engine, tranny, ecu, wiring harness, and oviously the other miscelaneous parts to get the swap complete. What will I need to purchase or get in order to fully make this complete and reliable? Thanks for any input in the matter, I appreciate it and look forward to any futher expertise.

Waitformeperformance.com did my ECU upgrade. All the other info that you will need is on Norotors.com

I had PCM4Less.com do mine they got a decent ball part for my heads/cam setup but it's certainly no replacement for real dyno tuning.
