HinsonSuperCars - New Setup (Pics & Videos)

We decided it was time for the tires to catch up with the motor. We dropped the 26" ET Streets in favor of 28 x 9" ET Drags. For those wondering, the wheels are Welds 5x4.5" w/ 5.5" backspacing.

We took the car to Holiday Raceway just SW of Birmingham, AL. It was time for one last trip to the track on the factory LS6 clutch. We had a few test runs in the earlier part of the day. We made two passes at night once the cooler air had set. The first of the cold air passes was a 6.80 @ 104mph. The second pass was a 6.71 @ 103.47 mph. VIDEO (Right click, save as)

On the last pass, I decided to go for a 6.6x pass. Pull to the line, turned on the nitrous(~110HP), rev'd to 6K (highest to date), green light......VIDEO

Apparently a 1.42 sec 60' time is the limit for a 6spd LS1 RX7 on the stock differential. Both sides of the differential were busted with pieces found over 10 feet away. Oh well, out with the old and in with the new.... KAAZ differential will be going in shortly.

The irony of the day: The clutch was the part that was suppose to break.

Cheers

The KAAZ LSD is being installed next week. We should be eliminating a big factor in the latest adventure.
