Question FD3S Engine Swap

Hi mates, Iam opening this topic because I have googled the web and didnīt find any information about a V8 swap with a Jaguar V8.

But first the motives.

My RX-7 will arrive in Portugal by December, but the previous owner blowed the 13B in a race, so the body is cheap yes, but donīt have any heart in it.

I have made the choice of swaping because in Portugal there is no support from Mazda for rotors, even the RX-8 that they selled here are shipped to another country to get manutention.

I have searched for some reliable motors, that can get mechanics under it here. And the Jaguar V8 is one of them, what do you think of this kind of swap, any other opinion are well received. Almost all motors from European brands are well received by mechanics here, do you recommend any other motor?

Iam gratefull for your time reading my lines.
And sorry for my bad english.

if your going for a v8... erase that thought of a jag motor... and go right to LSx.

hinsonsupercars.com

or samberg fabrication

Thank you! For the reply.
Id love to go LS1. But the problem stains, first is a "mindfuck" fouding a LSx in European Union, second Chevrolet only started selling Camaros this year and Vettes last year, so no mechanic knows how to repair or modify that kind of engine.

If the Jaguar is no good maybe I will with something German like the engine of the Z4 (BMW N55) the heavy tunning in the BMW Series 1M is brutal, the amount of torque is very good for that engine.

But id like to see other opinions.

My Best thanks and regards for everyone.

Your big issue I suspect will be space and finding a manual to use with jag V8s. Because OHC engines are much bigger dimension-wise than pushrod units they can be harder to fit and could need more fab, although there's plenty of potential in those. Straight sixes have been proven to fit (think 2jz) so that's a very viable option, and I would look into it if you can live without an 8.

Hi there! Since one of my problems is the support, I think the 1JZ-GTE may be the best solution, the pre-lt are heavy and have no aftermarket in Portugal. And since there are pre-build frames, must be the fastest and the cheapest way.

Good call, especially if there's a kit to swap it already on the market. plenty of power and reliability there

Yes the models with the 1JZ-GTE were selled in the past in Portugal, so I can get aftermarket here, and support. Iam thinking in the Tech2 frame kit. I saw people with this kit and the stock wood with 1JZ only the 2JZ needs the FUGLY hood.
