Fc rear end!

I have a four lug fc swapped with a 350. I was about to buy wheels but I must first decide if I should do a 5 lug swap or not. I know the 4x114.3 is not a very common bolt pattern except some nissans use it. The 5x114.3 is used by mustangs which opens up a whole different market of wheels. But on the bottom of this all, how strong is the four lug rear end? What different rear ends do you guys have?

You can run either rear with either lug pattern, technically. The N/A (7") rear is fine to about 300 RWHP, if you don't beat on it. TII will handle >450 RWHP if you don't wheel hop, more with an auto.

I'd go 5 lug, much better brakes and more wheel options.

Thanks a lot. This is like the third question of mine you have personally answered. I'm trying to do this thing once and right. Well, right for me.

Glad to help. You'll have to stop by one of the Seven Not Stock events in Indy.

Imo, I would go with a TII rear end too, it's gonna cost, but it will be worth it in the end. Fwiw, when I had a 4 lug 7 I used a set of rims off of a dsm. Fc rx7's have an unusual offset for a rwd car.

Is that 300 rwhp hooking with slicks? or 300rwhp just spinning?

Dead hooking (particularly with an automatic) is far easier on parts than wheel hop. If you are spinning, you can make it live with 2000 HP, haha.

Now, with a stick you might have a tougher time making it live, but if you don't beat on it excessively it should be alright. Really depends on what kind of life it bad before.

Well I'm building a 400hp 355 SBC and my rear end have 176K on it and idk who had it before me but I know I'm a little rough on it..... I tend to drift it a lot lol not at events but just around town every now and then for fun.... But I will have a T5 trans so I was wondering more about the manual transmissions and I'm thinking about welding the diff.... Would that help any?

The diffs eat the ring/pinion, so no, welding won't help anything unfortunately.
