Congrats to Mark Corbett's LS1 FD!!!

Just picked up my issue of Sport Compact Car, and saw that an RX7 was featured in there... an LS1 powered one by Mark Corbett. Is he on our forum? If so, congrats and way to represent! Even though it's not a rotary!

I just picked up a copy at lunch. Very cool to be in the SCC mag with other cars that are rolling works of art and performance. It was a fantastic time during the 3 day event and the SCC crew were very cool people. I had my car running for about 3 weeks before the challenge and was still very rough in comparison to others there.... but it will shine in the performance testing in the next issue I can guarantee that.

Daily driven n/a 500hp+ street car built on a budget with mainly used parts being very resourceful. Built in a 1 car garage entirely by me with limited handtools and help from some friends on the electrical aspect. Weird rolling up with my friend Mike (MAS280) and my car on his $800 trailer when others had $500K+ race trailers (K&N) with lifts, full tool setup, sleeping quarters, onboard welders, and their own professional mechanic crew. It felt like David vs. Goliath at times.

Wished there was more coverage than 1 page per entrant... hopefully the next issue with the competition results will be more extensive.

I love my RX-7!

-Mark

This is why I done't think cars that are owned by some shop should be allowed in the USCC. I don't want to see cars built with unlimited money FOR the USCC. I want to see the USCC go back to being just that. STREET CARS. Car built by the owner and driven on the street. Not some shop car that has a 'team' on hand. It's stupid and will only become a 'whoever has the deepest pocket' event. It's almost as bad as factory drift cars...

You'll be pleasantly surprised to see the results next month. I think some of those "shop guys" are going back to the drawing board for next year.

I'm pretty sure Mark has some posted on torquecentral. I know mine are, as well as dozens of others.

Holy goodness, that's a beautiful car. What was your exhaust setup? Looks like you went with true duals judging by the mufflers.

I'll post up some engine pics later this week.

I'm running dual Magnaflow hi flow 3" cats, Xpipe, then dual 3" piping all the way back into 2 muffs. Should support any future mods . Sounds very healthy at idle and WOT especially......

The silver FD from the magazine was sold to a friend in Sonora, CA who owned it for a while and now it has been sold to someone here in Alamo, CA. It has a 383 with Tony Mamo heads now I believe.
The silver car in the video above is one a bought from my buddy Mike (MAS280) with an LS9 style longblock and 88mm turbo/T56 Magnum/Solid 8.8" rear. I have a gray widebody car also with 416/LS7 custom heads I bought after selling the USCC car and have owned it about 16-17 years.

In April this blue FC came up for sale in TX as a roller and I had to have it. So I'm building a SBE 5.3 I've decided with a powerglide and trying to run 7.90's in 2023.

gracer7-rx7- sadly Dave passed away about 2 years ago in a work related accident. The SL-C was sold to David Mazzei and he is doing a 5 rotor setup with sequential gear box ($$$$$$). It was a rushed sale and I didn't have time to part it out or really list it thoroughly.... David is going to make it into something amazing and Dave would be happy.

Shame to hear about Dave's passing, RIP and condolences.

Very cool that his SLC went to Mazzei for the 5 rotor project, I wasn't aware of the connection.

Quick Reply: Congrats to Mark Corbett's LS1 FD!!!
