Anti-LS1 thread

I'll tell you that reading threads like these really makes me wonder why people who no longer have or like the rotary motors are on this forum at all? Why does the Rx7Clube forum have an "other engine conversions" subforum? The Rx8Club forum doesn't have one. The V8Rx7Forum doesn't have a rotary conversion subforum. Perhaps the Rx7Club forum would be better without this section at all. It certainly would eliminate a lot of the contentious and angry threads. Hmmm.

I was on the floor for about 1/2 hour laughing after I saw this. Too funny! "Triangle nightmare you call an engine..." that's so funny! "My FD doesn't sound like a broken lawnmower anymore" lmfao

well I plan on having an rx7 with a shitload of "soul" (20b) and another rx7 with no "soul" (ls1) lol
I am a hotrodder and a rotard I have to fulfill all of my needs
Although I must say I am going to make sure the rotary car is always faster just so when ignorant bastards mouth off I can show them what a rotary is all about.

I don't fit into this thread cause I have a 1jzgte FC, but I want to say something:
What gives a car character, soul, and meaning is how much work you personally (not paid some one to do) put into it.
I LOVE the FC chassis. The styling, handling, light body, low cost, everything. If I had unlimited funds and gas prices where under a buck, I would totally build a rotary. However, gas is ******* expensive and rotaries are inefficient!
So I took a turbo-II that had sat in a field for a year and Frankensteined it. The 13b had gone to **** and it cost me less to do a jz swap than do a quality 13b build that would have the same potential.
But, that's just what I did, because it's what I wanted. And to be perfectly honest, I saved a FC from the junkyard!
In the end, I don't hate on any car people put a lot of work into. So guys that want to build a rotary, DO IT! If you want a ls1, go for it! JZ... what are you waiting for?!

I'm at a loss as to what you're proving, other than the fact that one of your cars is slow.
I kid.

I guess i'll state my piece.. I come from the LS1 world.. I beat the everliving **** out of my transam.. it saw everything from 25-300 shots of nitrous.. numerous highways pulls against supras and 03 cobras.. even a highway race against the very FD that sits in my garage right now.. My car made 698hp and 742 ft lbs of torque on a BONE ROCK STOCK shortblock.. i bought the car with 64k miles.. took it apart with 112k.. sold the motor to a guy who beat on it for another year.. harder than i did till he oil starved it..
My 02 gmc sierra has the 5.3 variant of the gen 3 platform.. has been 13.50's in a 5000+lb truck on a 175 shot and has 112k miles on it.. and towed the FD back to my house when i bought it..
Now the FD in my garage was owned by a buddy of mine.. I personally towed it numerous times with popped motors.. down to pettit we'd go..
ported this.. tuned that.. stock boost this time..
it didn't matter.. i know of one time he was driving home form work.. made i right hand turn rolled into the throttle and out came the smoke..
now this is a guy whos as **** about maintnance as any.. poured fuel lube in.. took every precautionary step.. it didn;t matter..
that being said the car sits in my garage as a roller.. i still have the stock harness and the thought does cross my mind.. But from personal experience.. anyone who states the motors are equally reliable.. has to be smoking more dope than michael phelps in costa rica..
to the guy who quoted he was making 300 relaible hp out of his rotary.. awesome.. thats great.. your proud to be reliable making what the stock LS does.. now lets go 400hp.. cause all the LS needs is a cam to do that.. hell 500.. mild heads a cam and a 100shot.. screw 150k i better get 200k out of my ls with that set up..
this brings me to my buddy josh.. he wanted an LS car but the only one he could afford had 220k on it.. WE sprayed the bajeebus out of that car.. 200+ hp worth of nitrous.. the only thing he killed was the stock auto..
Guys everyone can state opinion.. these are cold hard facts.. witnessed and done by me personally.. take it for what it is..
i still think about putting a 13b back in the car
Mike

I will chime in and respond to the original question.
My brother is constantly telling me what I should do with my car. Everything from engine to body work. I listen to some of his ideas, others I'm not fond of. In the end, I look at him and tell him "it is my car, I will do with it what i want"
I have a v8 FD and a rotary FD. I run into all types when i go to non-rx7 meets. I take the v8, I get people talking sh*t because I swapped. i drive the rotary, i get asked why i haven't gone v8 in it... hell, i've caught crap on this forum from people putting down my car.
In the end, I simply reply to these people with: "It's my car, i'm glad it keeps me happy" If you don't want to swap to a v8, then stay rotary. If your brother/friend/boss/pet snake doesn't like it, tell them to buy their own and swap it.
good luck with defending on those who do not agree with you.
