5.7L Hemi in an FD?

Is it possible to drop in a 5.7L Hemi into an FD? I know the blocks are pretty close in size to the LS1, the major diff. is the heads and air intake.

I got the Hemi (Engine, ECU, Harness, Tranny etc.) sitting on the floor right now doing nothing, it comes out of a 03 Ram.. If it's not possible to drop it in the FD I just going to scrap that idea and try and find an old Cuda.

Thanks guy's

i don't know whether it will drop in (as people will say "anything is possible with enough money"), but here's a question for you, isn't it an iron block engine? If it is, do you really want all that iron hanging in the front of your car?

Do you have an FD already?

If so take measurments and tell us if it fits.

Anything can be made to fit. It all depends on how much modifying you are willing to do, to make it fit. This kind of stuff will usually blow the budget you have set aside. So if you decide to try this, have the funds to complete it.

well most truck engines will fit cars but you might have to replace the oil pan, most trucks have a deeper oil pan so in a car it might hit. and please dont put that crappy mopar part into a rx7 put it into the cuda and for your rx7 go with a 3 rotor or vette motor

Well I'm not worried about the Iron block.. it's easy to get the extra HP out of the Hemi, I fig I should be able to bring it up to 600hp pretty easy. That'll make up for the bit of extra LBS. That and beef up the front suspension at the same time.

No I don't have the FD at the moment. Which is why I'm askin'. I just wanna see if it's going to be worth the effort or not. I don't feel like having to cut the car to bits to make an engine fit either.

id definately say this wouldnt be easy. if youre seriously contimplating this, then you should have a general idea of what itll take. youll have to fab new engine and tranny mounts. youll have to get a custom driveshaft. and thats the easy stuff.

this will cause the car to loose its remarkable handling abilites. youll be creating a highway runner/strip car.

if the engine is too tall youll have to mod the hood. with the power youll probably need to upgrade the rearend with a cobra rearend.

with this swap youll easily hit $15k.

this is just my guessing and $.02

I understand that this would not be a cheap project, thats not a big concern cause most of my labour is going to be done for next to nothing, My father is a Master Mechanic and Fab. as well. so for mounts and stuff is not a prob. The Car itself would be my concern.

On the other hand the car would be a bit nose heavy due to the extra weight...

Anyone wanna trade an LS1 for a full running 5.7l Hemi

This is more or less just to inform my-self as to what it would take to take on this project, money is not a big concern at the moment. If i have to butcher the car I'll just wait and get something else in it's place for now. (ie:the cuda)

honestly i dont know if it will fit. Defeats the purpose of driving a rx7, sound of a v8 in a 7. Might as well get a gto!

I agree with the cuda statement. I know someone has to be the first to do something, but I mean sbc or ls1 or lt1 or even sbf engine fit into them and they have kits for them and there is ALOT of help out there for you also if you choose one of them roots. Just something else to think about

Dumbest thing I have read on this forum. Please, explain how the Hemi engine is a piece of crap?

I would say do it to be different. But you are putting an engine into a car that was never designed for it. I see dollar signs in your future with any engine swap.

If you decide to get rid of the motor, send me a PM, I want to throw a Hemi into a CJ-7.
